Bead What??

As I've mentioned in the past, I belong to the Embroiderers' Guild. Our chapter has a different challenge every year. A theme is named and you create soemthing and interpret that theme in your own way.

This year's challenge is "Bead What??" I have an idea that I may use but I'm curious what you all would do?

I would go to a garage sale and try to find a slightly used Mr and Mrs Potato Head toy. .. Oh.. wait.. thats already been done to death... Ok.. I would bead around the back of a hand mirror. ... and down the handle. Diana

"Bead What?" for me would be ... hmmm... seems like everything has already been beaded! :) I think I'd like to bead a lamps... with a BIG lampshade... the Full Monty - evrything but the lightbulb!! I have a really big round copper ball lamp that would look totally cool covered in beads with a fully beaded lampshade. In lieu of doingthat... I'd bead my car... lol...

my telephone (I have one of those old, clunky black dial phones), a clock, my daytimer, my blowdryer, my metal tape measure, my carryon/briefcase, my yardstick, oh, i don't know...lots of stuff. If only i really could bead.

How about a model train (HO or larger)?

I would bead an axe handle. That's always appealed to me as an improbable dichotomy between something that is almost always utilitarian and masculine, and something that is almost always ornamental and female.

And, of course, there are female connotations to an axe, as well.

Beaded lightbulb covers would be SO COOL! They would have to be wire-based, as any plastic would burn away once the light bulb was turned on.

I'd like to bead my computer monitor. I look at it enough - why not add some sparkle and color to the boring beige monstrosity. I'd do the keyboard and tower, too, while I'm at it. :)

I would bead a chastity belt--an antique one. To show that women in bondage can still manage to shine out their feminine glory:)

How about these? Same technique as the silicon beads that have been popular lately:

Hit send too soon.

If I beaded the cord I might not hate the danged thing so much? Maybe.

You know, it has been proven that Lizzy didn't after all.

Yes, those are fun! They have them at Fred Meyer here. I think mostly low wattages... the brighter ones get too hot.

What I was envisioning was more like a netting of large seed beads, maybe on very fine copper or nickel wire... it would be pretty, the light would shine through and light up the colors.

I didn't know they proved Lizzy didn't do it. Poor thing.

I read a book many years ago that did set forth to prove that she did not do it. The evidence at that time wasnt conclusive to me. I would love to read more about the case, and how they proved she was innocent. Time to Google! A TV show tried to show that while she may or may not have done the deed she was certainly justified if she did. They painted her home life as horrific and abusive. Thanks for updating the situation.
