new lo ideas

This year I'm going to take pics of the homes on my street as the seasons and holidays change. I got the idea while admiring the fall colors in everyones yards. Starting this month I'll be taking pics and starting on my "A year on Cottonwood street" album. My whole street consists of one block, a cul-de-sac. If you live on a long street you could do your block. In an apartment you could do your building. I just thought I'd share this idea and am excited to get it started. I think today I'll go stand at the end and take a wide shot of the whole block.

That's a great idea. I thought of doing pictures of very nicely shaped trees in each season. The homes is even better.

That really is a neat idea... which I might do if I could stay in one place long enough to go through a whole year! LOL

Great idea but it wouldn't work in my neighbourhood where the season's change can only be categorised as hot, warm, cooler.

Although maybe its time I planted a jacaranda or cassia tree - they seem to be subject to seasonal changes. The growth of a tree would also make a good series of LOs.

Good idea Katrina! For me, since we've moved quite a bit, it would help my kids remember where we lived.

I'm doing a book of Tybee Island..for the time we live here.. pics of the beach and the house and each holiday we go through while living here. I figured it was good to scrap since this was a temporary stay.

Sounds like a great idea Katrina... If only we had seasons in South Texas :) We have summer and "other" (the rare days, weeks, months where it's under 70 degrees F!) but no real seasons :( I have, however, been taking pictures of our little home at different times and enjoying it :) I may use your idea though for this year's garden! It's the first year I'll be able to have a full garden of my own (I gardened in containers at our apartment and before that with my mom) so it would be fun to get some "growing" shots :) Good idea :)

Michelle, Love the pix and it has made me want to live in a beach house. Also makes me start counting the days until I will be in Fl with my DD and SIL. (12 days) Can't wait to hold those grandkids!!

Sounds like you and I will be in FL about the same time Sabrina. Too bad that I won;t have the time to cross the state and go and see you :( But next time you go down to FL and I'm living there again, I will do whatever it takes to go and meet you!

I just know that you will have a great trip!

Thanks Judy, I am counting the days and talking with my DD everyday. We are getting excited to see each other. She was out by her new Christmas present this morning....a pond! She has been wanting one and her DH came through for Christmas. I could hear the water bubbling and she was almost dozing in a chair in the warm sunshine! LOL It's a bit cold here. She had me in stitches telling how the family pets had acted up . Gus, the turtle was taken from his terrarium to live in the pond and while this was going on, their new puppy,Opie ,a little beagle, started yipping and nipping at him which prompted Gus to clamp down on the puppy's nose. He then ran around swinging and flinging Gus,trying to get him off and yelling bloody murder. The other two dogs just stood and watched because they are older and I think the puppy has been annoying them for weeks. In the end, everyone was all right,Gus unharmed and the puppy just a little baffled that he could not bully this one. LOL He chases the cat, Charley, all the time. Charley is the kitten Jill rescued eyes unopened, and newborn after the hurricane for whom he is named. So besides the warm weather,I will get to have a continuous show to watch! LOL

Oh Sabrina! I know you are going to have a beautiful time. All the antics of the fur and shellbabies sounds adorable and won't that make awesome LO's! Remember the camera! That pond sounds something to dream of, she's a lucky lady to get that for Christmas! And think what a relaxing time you will have, lazing in the sun! Now I know it will be tempting, but don't spoil those grandkids too much. :))

Great idea, Katrina! I have one photo of mom's street growing up & at least one that shows a little of his street. I was excited to find those photos & wish I had more so I could get a better feel for where my parents grew up & what it was like back then.
