vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from Kalera Stratton :
]if I get what I need to ] make for a bead, the end customer is charged *twice* what I think the ]bead's worth!
can i say [without it sounding wrong] then it's my belief one of two things might be "wrong".
if you get what you need for the bead from a shop owner, then the price the customer is charged in a retail outlet IS what it is worth. if you're not thinking that way . . . maybe you need to readjust your perspective - UP?
if you see what i mean?
otoh, one reason i prefer to buy from web sites is that i'm more comfortable that way - i know what the maker thinks the bead is worth, and if i can afford it when i see it, it's a done deal. auctions make me VERY uneasy, because i would not insult an artist deliberately for anything. otooh, there are so many i would love to have, and i'm always afraid if i don't snatch it up right then and there, i'll never get another chance [witness TINK!]
