New Project - need some help

I have been given a new project by my hubby. It is supposed to be my "master project". Last night he was watching a DVD called "A Knight's Tale" (rather good Medieval movie for those that haven't seen it, but that's a diff. story). Anyway, he has a sword collection and while watching the movie he went and took out his hand and a half sword with a leather sheath. After a while he came to me and said he had a challenge for me. My challenge is to come up with a beaded dragon pattern to cover the kitty teeth/claw marks in the top of the leather sheath...

The part of the sheath I will be beading on is approx. 27 inches long. I am planning on using 8/0 or 11/0 seed beads to bead this, and fireline to "sew" it on with. The beads will be woven between the inside row of stitches, with the fireline going under and around the stitches to secure it.

This is going to take for freaking ever because I can't seem to find a decent dragon pic to start from! I have googled and I found ONE that I liked, but there is no feasible way to stretch it to the length needed and make it look good. It was an Earth Dragon wrapped around the Earth. It is totally awesome, but not feasible (hubby is an Earth Dragon, or would be if he were a dragon (the description suited him to the letter)).

If anyone has any insite for me on this I would appreciate it greatly.

If you want to see the Hand and a Half and it's sheath you can see it here:

You might want to try searching for illustrations of chinese dragons, you're more likely to find them in the elongated shape you're looking for as chinese dragons tend to be more of a wyrm shape than a lizard shape if you see what I mean - have a look at the asian dragon art posters on art.com

there are a couple of half decent representations here (though they're mostly heavily westernised). I'm sure a google search would turn up a larger crop of decent pics.
