OT: Bend It Like Beckham

You MUST see this movie.

It is approaching my favorite movie.

On recommendation from my father (who hates sports at least as much as I do) we saw this movie on DVD last night.

The details of family life, British Sikh culture, and human character are great. The cinematography is beautiful. The movie is so "real" that it is hilarious as well as touching.

Oh, and if you can, rent it on DVD and watch the out takes (which really give more depth to the characters) and the cooking lesson!

I loved that movie, too! One that I think I'd really like to buy. And the outtakes were great!!!

Yeah, great movie!! My whole family got sucked into it as I was watching it...DH did not want to see if originally, but started peeking into the room, then just came and sat down. Then the kids floated in the room too. We all gave it two thumbs up! Arleen

Arleen,

*LOL*

When we put it on, DH was still getting dinner and missed the first 3 minutes. There were so many great details I told him he HAD to turn it back (the DVD plays from the computer connected to the TV which I have never figured out how to use). We had a big squabble because he didn't want to turn it back and claimed he "wasn't in the mood for a movie". I suspect because this movie was a hand-off from my dad and DH didn't know what it was. Finally I convinced him to roll it back. He was stuck on it from that minute.

This is a fantastic movie! I rented it, loved it, bought it. It's one of those movies you can watch a bunch of times, and not get sick of it. Great soundtrack, too!

That's how I feel too!

I want to watch it again and again; I am sure I missed a lot of details. Too bad it had to go back today!

Usually I don't like, say, popular music woven inbetween traditional scenes, but I thought they did this one SO well.

I gave a not-so-subtle hint to DH about this movie but hints never seem to work for him ;)

We watched that, as a family, a few weeks ago. Both hubby and I loved it, as well as our 10 yr old daughter!
