Okay I'm a weirdo and love scooters. Anyhow we frequent a pawn shop down the road. I get DVDs for $4 and Dan always finds a good buy on a new weapon (gun). I'm military so I say weapon. :-)
Anyhow I've been eyeing a scooter they had there for a little bit. It's a
1979 Honda Express Scooter. It needs some engine work (easy) and some cosmetic stuff.I already found a rebuilt engine for it for nothing and I'll be installing that as soon as it gets here. I need a headlight cover and then it will be ready to go if the battery still works. If not, they aren't expensive.
The best thing about this whole thing is I paid $25 for the scooter. It's made of metal and not plastic. It's funky retro....and I get to customize it to my hearts content. I already have the basic drawings done for the seat. It's going to either be white or light pink with hot pink flames and my initials. Then I'm getting the body powder coated to a very light pink. Beyond that I'm not sure. I'm not a big chrome fan so I know I don't want that.
I forgot another great thing. I designed a cool basket to fit on the front for Trinkett. It's going to be made by a metalsmith I know. It's a basic woven basket design but with flames. I'm not sure if that will be powder coated, painted, or left as is. Either way, once I get done this scooter is going to be Saucyfide.
As soon as Dan gets his truck my SUV is next. I'm going with the Jannis Joplin theme for the truck. I have all my spray painting equipment ready. It's going to be so retro and funky!
Now if I can find my VW van again I'll be good to go.
