My Own Shop Hop (and some OT)

I didn't realize that the Nebraska Shop Hop was going on this weekend, but planned my own. I was kidsitting this afternoon in Lincoln and planned a few stops along the way.

First, the Country Sampler in Papillion for a pattern they'd ordered for me. It is called Whitework Sampler by the Rabbit Factory and is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. It's a long-term, future project, for sure.

Next, The Quilted Moose in Gretna. I'm making a blue and saffron batik quilt for DS#2 and wife in California. As it has to fit a California King sized mattress, it's a big-un. I have a low boredom threshold and was rapidly growing tired of the fabric I already had. So I picked up 8 or 9 half yard cuts of purplish batiks.

I had a timing issue, so I skipped the Cosmic Cow and headed straight to the Calico House in Lincoln. More batiks (blue/purple/yellow) there and a few retro brown/pink fat quarters to 'go with' some I already had.

And then Threads, a yarn shop just down the hall from Calico House. (A double header!) I found some luscious yarns and needles and patterns--a felted bag, a baby sweater and pale pink lace yarn for a scarf. Yum Yum.

OT--grandchildren are the absolute best! Talley (boy, age almost 5) is recovering from a strep throat and not feeling 100%. But we did our artistic best dyeing Easter eggs. (A bit late, but better late than ....) Liem (girl, age almost 2) took a nice long nap and then did her eggs. We went to McD's for Happy Meals, watched a dvd, read, cuddled, took a walk and enjoyed each other's company.

I'm pooped!

Wow! That sounds like a wonderful day! I'll have to google the Whitework Sampler. It sounds like handwork though.... One can never have too many batiks. I'd love to see what you brought home. Lucky son to be getting one of your wonderful quilts! Fabric shopping and babysitting for grands....an awesome day! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your fun day. I look forward to the grandmother babysitting days. It sounds like you three had a great time. I want to see the whitework too.

Oops, a bit quick on the draw there with the posting. The Rabbit Factory has some beautiful patterns and not all of them are 'quilt of a lifetime' projects.

Howdy!

Sounds marvelous, all of it.

Way to go, Joan.

Oh that's beautiful. I hope you make it soon, Joan! I don't think I can wait too long to see it; it's so very pretty but elegant at the same time. Lovely. . In message , joan8904 in Bellevue Nebraska writes

May have to wait a bit. It's definitely on the long-term planning list.

Colors? Of course, my first thought is batiks. I'm about over- saturated with blue and yellow, so somthing other than that. Suggestions are welcome.

I have 3+ yards of lime batik from a previous project that never got past the buying-fabric stage. Sounds like a winner to me!
