OT - Oooh, the spoofers are getting clever!

I got a new kind of spoof today... it's disguised as a "question from eBay member"! The one I got asks if they can pay using verified Paypal. Since I don't have anything for sale, I knew it was a spoof... but I wanted to send out a heads-up to people who do have stuff currently for sale on eBay; if you get a question from an eBay member, it would be wisest to log on to your eBay and answer it from there... don't click on the link!

I got one of those, too. I did have some auctions, but something about it made me double check. It is VERY real looking!! Caution everyone!

I got one the other day from "paypal" that was a receipt for a $135 payment to some watch place. In the body of the e-mail was a link to dispute the payment if I "hadn't approved the payment" or some similar garbage.

Naturally I knew it was a spoof, but I'm sure some people got it and freaked out and clicked the link to dispute it. I reported it to paypal. It was one of the most realistic spoofs I've seen. They're certainly getting smarter.
