OT - other Calendar - and the "charity" issue

I should have put this in the last post but last year - a group of women did a calendar called "Wearing Wool" you can find out about it here

which was to raise money for cancer research --- I bought three copies - gave two as gifts--- One was for my 80 something great aunt Eileen - and she loved it. She said that all the bead gals should get together - wearing BEADS and make a beader's calendar - ok - who's up for a beader's charity calendar??? ROTFL They are still clearing out the last of the stock of the 2003 calendar at a bargain of $5 each --it's full of fun photos of women (and at least one kid) and wool ... au naturale...but not a "sex" calendar .... in fact most will make you laugh or smile at the ingenious layout of the photos... Those of you who are not offended by the beauty of the female body - all shapes and ages - may find this an appealing reminder that beauty is not all about those skinny models!

There is a group in England who did this a few years ago to raise money for cancer treatment for the husband of one of the members.

A movie is coming out about them in December.

see - you're getting in the spirit.....!!!!

I was thinking of that bathtub thing for myself --- you know - a old fashioned clawfoot bathtub filled with beads - with me in it, wearing nothing - but beads!

I'm in! I've always wanted to do a picture with nothing on from the waist up, just a couple of strategically placed goblets while I'm standing behind a bar.... Barbara Dream Master

It is done by a group of ladies from a branch of the Women's Institute in Yorkshire. Most of them are senior ladies. Some are taking part in the film others are being played by actresses. They are know as the Calendar Girls.

This is actually a SUPER idea, but it would be much better if more than just

10% of the proceeds went for the charity (which is what is given to breast cancer research from the sale of the wearingwool calendar).

I Gotta have one. My sister was a spinner and weaver in Maine. I can picture her signing up to participate. So, in memory of her and her unique style and capacity to enjoy herself and life itself... I will hang this in my living room! Diana

that was probably economically all they could make off it - Costs of printing a calendar like that are outrageous -- they originally charged like $17.00 each for them.... plus they had all the production costs, photography, advertising, layout, hiring a company to produce, printing... etc. By the time they got done 10% profit was about all they could make I bet... Shhhhhh...dont spoil my illusions... I picture her weeks later at a party... gently and absentmindedly scratching herself under the breast.. and saying... oh! in a startled voice..and jubilently pulling out a stunning lampworked bead and showing it off saying.. i wondered where that one went to! Diana :-)
