OT: prayers needed!

My nephew was just diagnosed with "simple b-cell non-hodgkin lymphoma", and we all need all the prayers and good vibes we can get! Please keep us in your thoughts for the next few months..... [He's 35, married, with 2 little girls.] :-(

Thanks!! - Susan in VA

p.s. On a good note, my daughter works for the Leukemia- Lymphoma Society, so she's been sending us all the info we need to understand what's going on. I told her she must be in the right place in the world - - so she could help us all when this happened to her cousin.

Susan, I was diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma in 1997. Chemo was not pleasant but not horrible either. I am now in remission, there is no "cure", for more than 4 years. The treatment goal now is to make it a chronic, non life threatening disease. I am completely symptom free. I basically just live life and have regular checkups. I was in a clinical trial and the drug is now first line treatment. Unfortunately because of the trial I had to do the old stuff with the new. The new one had almost no side effects. Have them ask the oncologist about "Rituxan" or other monoclonal antibodies. Best of luck to your nephew. Armand

Armand, what a success story! I'm so happy for your remission, and I hope it continues and continues..... I'll tell my nephew what you said - - and my sister. It should certainly help them keep hope alive. I know the "success rate" for this particular disease is pretty low (50%??), so hearing your story is wonderful. I'm so glad you're still here among us!!! :-)
