OT: Sooz...will you?

My friend, that's how I dress. I wore the french braid for more than

20 years, and now I have short hair. I generally go for less ornamentation, so I can show off my beadwork. Those "broomstick" skirts and peasant blouses make me look like I'm an escapee from Ellis Island, after immigrating from some Eastern European country. All I'd need is a sack for my belongings and a big old wheel of cheese to complete the effect. (Guess why I don't wear shawls?)

My favorite online store is Coldwater Creek. It can be a little hit or miss, but if you check the overstock area fairly often, there are incredible deals to be had on very nice clothes. Check on

You guys can have a good laugh at my expense: I've been wearing diamond studs pretty much nonstop since I was married. Both Sooz and VJ have sent me beautiful, dangly earrings, and I wore them on consecutive days. Bob and Manda both freaked - both noticed immediately, and both wanted to know if there was a problem. As in a marriage problem. :-0

No, no marriage problems. Both seemed to breathe a sigh of relief when I put my diamonds back in the next day. I love the Sooz and VJ earrings though, so I'll have to wear them when I go out. I'll just sneak back into my diamonds when I come home.

When I hear stories like this about C-sections, I'm glad I was able to 'au natral'(sp) for DS. By the time I felt I needed something for pain it wouldn't have worked in time, so I didn't get any. I spent most of the early labour in a nice warm, deep bath which really helped me.

Oh good, then I feel really disgustingly blech. 3 weeks ago I got the flu, started to recover and went into PMT sniffles, yep I get a sniffle a week before the flo starts. That finishes and now I've got a cold, I don't think I've had a clear nose in 3-4 weeks and to top it all off DS has a cold as well, at least he doesn't seem too bothered by it and I haven't had a good night's sleep in 3 days.

That's why I got my ears double pierced last year... after making so many pairs of earrings and so many people asking why I never WORE the things, I had to come up with a way to solve both problems... so I wear my diamonds in the second hole, and then am free to wear my stuff in the lower one. :-) (And my diamonds are pretty small, so I don't look too much like some crazed middle aged fool trying to look young :-)

I find that nice clothes and other trappings are a way for me to cherish myself... not necessarily *expensive* clothes, but clothes that look nice. Or jewelry, shoes, perfume, even special *toothpaste*... whatever it takes to give me that pampered feeling. For me, it's an outward symbol of valuing myself. I think that's pretty much the same thing that you're saying, too.

My extremely casual version of this is three pairs of Levis, three pairs of Dickies, two pairs of undyed linen pants, two linen skirts, a black skirt, and a million stripy or solid girly-tees in various lengths of sleeves. Since all tee shirts go with linen and denim, all of my tops go with all of my bottoms. Add nice shoes and a hairclip, and I look like I'm ready to lunch. :)

I think I am getting a mental picture of what you mean... beautiful, high-quality clothes where the beauty is in the simplicity and the craftsmanship, not in the ornamentation. Luxurious textures, understated color (undyed or faint, natural tints) and elegant lines such as you might see the CEO of a very successful natural-fiber clothing company wearing. Upscale downtown. Linen, hemp, cotton, and silk fabrics.

Would that be fresh or a cream form of aloe? I've got aloe growing in some pots, if fresh is okay.

I do the same thing... I had the piercings already, and when I received diamond earrings as a gift I put them in the upper holes so I could still wear fun stuff in the lower holes.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that feels self pampered when I buy my favorite toothpaste.
