I agree. I think what we are trying to say in this thread is that our clothing (hair, makeup) do nothing to help promote that feeling of loveliness, of well being, that starts on our insides. They say clothes make the (wo)man, and in some ways I agree. At least they can be a continuation of that feeling, an outward manifestation of how we see ourselves. Right now my clothes say that I dont like getting dressed in day clothes. What I would

*like* them to say is that while clothing isnt the most important thing in my life, boy... she sure looks well put together. :-) Diana

That sucks, big time, because I found it quite helpful. When do you get DSL? That may make the difference.

Yup. It's amazing that toes are all I've broken. I even chipped a bone in my left elbow falling up stairs when I was in the 7th grade. I'm not a klutz, generally speaking...It's the stairs, they get in the way.

We're in the process of installing it now -- firewalls, everything. I had no idea it was so complicated!

When you are ALWAYS connected to the internet (even when the computer is off) you have to be protected, Sooz:)

One of the easiest way to do that is to stop buying seperates. Yeah yeah, everyone needs black and navy pants, but other than that when you spend money on clothes, buy an entire outfit including accessories if you can. Wear it together, get it cleaned at the same time. You don't have to shop at Bloomies, but if you don't want to feel like Walmart you need to shop at TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls, Syms and other discount designer places. I also find great buys at Value City on occasion. Hope this helps.

I agree too, in some ways -- it does start on the inside. But it also makes me feel just *wonderful* to have a good haircut (I get an excellent cut at Supercuts for $14), and to wear a pretty new sweater -- say, in lavender, mmmm. And a nice pair of unscuffed shoes on my feet.

If this weren't true, people wouldn't wear jewelry -- and then where would we beaders be?

Yeah, true. I know for years I wasn't really allowed to buy anything to wear. I know I didn't really feel like it either. Now I'm encouraged to do so, and I feel like it too. It's been so good for me! It's actually helped me bloom and blossom in other areas.

I'm definitely not a trend-follower, and I'm not a high-fashion seeker (let alone a fashion victim). But giving up my older clothes and getting a few new ones has been beneficial. The days I wear something sleek as opposed to schlumpy are days I feel better about me, too.

I've found the biggest contributing factor for me (in looking nice) is to be organized. I have less clothes than I used to own, by far -- but I look a whole lot better-dressed. I'm just as comfortable as I used to be, too, even more so -- but I don't look rumpled. I'm finding I prefer this, which is a big surprise for house-bound, somewhat agoraphobic me. It's given me more freedom to go out, and more energy to actually do it, too. ~~ Sooz

There's nothing that makes me feel more pulled-together than a SUIT. I really need to go buy one! Then when I go out, I feel like five billion bucks. ~~ Sooz

Meee toooo!!! I feel fabulous when my hair is all nice and *smells good*. I also feel better when I pamper myself with good bath and body stuff. Shoes have never done it for me, but all the luxurious hair and face stuff makes me feel so good. And a new outfit does wonders as well!! Especially if it matches some beads I have!

Yes, I learned that when I was selling clothes. Don't get the pants and jacket and figure you can get another black shell to wear with it. Get the shirt, skirt, jacket, pants and shell. That way you have shirt and skirt to accessorize, tank and pants to wear with a different jacket, and jacket and pants or skirt to wear with blouses. You end up paying twice as much for five or six times much wear and variety, but all of it completely matching.

Sure does. I plan to make some clothes but the concept is still the same. You are suggesting not trying to mix and match? ..but to think of an outfit as a total package..shoes, accessories...et al.. I have the grand adventure of starting from the ground up. I have jeans and tshirts for the most part. lol... I can only go up! Thank you, Diana
