Compulsive fabric shopper

Ok, I admit it. I have a problem with buying fabric. It's bad enough when all these gorgeous new prints and colors are on display, then someone has to add the word "sale". I'm such a sucker! :)

About a week ago I ordered a bunch of batiks. I have 2 patterns picked out that I'd like to try and they would be perfect for my 2 oldest sons. the patterns are in Judy Martin's new Log Cabin book and call for 20 some fat quarters each. Part of the charm is the variety. Since most online stores don't offer the batiks as fat quarters and have minimum 1 yard cuts, I'm sure I should be able to get 4 or 5 tops out of what I've ordered. I've never been into collecting batiks before, I've picked up a few pieces here and there that filled a gap in specific projects, but mostly they don't really fit into my old fashioned, traditional quilting preferences. I've been wanting to make quilts for my (now married) boys and their wives but their tastes are more modern, simplistic than mine. When I saw these two quilts in Judy's book I thought they would be perfect. So, at least I had a justifiable reason for this batch of fabric. My shelves already overflow, and sewing time is extremely limited these days (although I am getting things organized so that I can steal a few minutes here and there), so what ever possessed me to check out the 4th of July fabric sale thread that Polly started last week????

combined with Polly's apparent love of Fingerpaints and the $3.00/yd did it. Now I have another package of fabric coming.

DH has gone down to his shop, so I'm gonna get off here and sneak into my sewing space.

Hope your all having a great Sunday!

I guarantee you will love the Fingerpaints. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied, you can ship them to me. Polly

Thanks Polly I can't imagine not liking them after reading your recommendation, but if for some strange reason I don't I now know where they will find a good home. LOL
