Are you ok? Have you been flooded out? I hope all is well.

All is well here. Today Russ hopes to fly to ChCH but getting through Wellington airport will be a mission. Mike and his sister were driving down to a family funeral in lower NI but too many road slips. I am taking Russ to the airport and the we were to have an Athletics day a school but too much rain. Cheers, Jan

I'm ok, thanks Marisa..

I live in the Bay of Plenty. We've had tooooo much rain, but not as much as the Waiarapa - Oh, how I feel for those people...

What I'd like to know is .... what the hell happened to summer?

Jan, I'd be surprised if Wellington is even open..

They are in for another lashing today.. As if they need more rain and high winds..

< A fond wish of dryness to those who are suffering. A small prayer to take away the rain till you need it again.

Thank goodness you and Jan are ok!

Good question, Mavis. It's cold as blazes in Chch and the mountains are covered in snow. Being mad Aussies, we grabbed some f&c for tea last night and zoomed out to Springfield for a coffee and a look at the snow covered Alps!

I'm so glad you guys are ok, but oh, my heart goes out to the flood victims. It's awful! There's more rain on the way...I thought we were having a drought?! Shortest drought I've ever experienced! I'm used to no rain what so ever from December till May!

They could try and send it over to Oz! NSW and Vic are still in need of rain, some areas are still in severe drought and I think Sydney is still on water restrictions.

Well, you are most welcome to it!!

In fact, you can take the bl**dy lot... This has been the crappiest, wettest summer I have seen for many a year and I hate it... You're most welcome to have it...

I'm sure the Lower North Islanders would say the same thing.. Houses washed away & all.. Railway lines gone.. Dams threatening to burst in the Upper South Island.. thousands evacuated because the dam is at the top of town..

You're most welcome..

That is so awful... Our thoughts are with you North Islanders. Floods are so devastating!

Yeah, but it ain't over yet :-(( - More rain on the way..

Heaps of cattle have died and they are now trying to move the remaining livestock to other parts of the country because the farmland is completely flooded and there is no feed. Houses have been washed away and many are completely uninhabitable. Mud is absolutely everywhere. I'm sooo grateful I don't live in the flood zone but feel sooo much for those who do.. Most of my family live in Taranaki on the west coast of the NI but haven't been hit too hard. I have an aunt & uncle who live in the flood zone and most of mums relatives live there too :-(( The devatation is huge... It's gonna cost hundreds of millions not to mention all the treasures one has built up over the years - all gone...

I have vowed not to moan any more about our crappy summer, but to think of and to do what I can for all those people whose lives have been turned upside down by this.

Any rate, enough rambling from me..

Me too Mavis, at the very least I'll be donating to the flood relief fund.
