OT: Very Good Kitty!

All cats in the area find our house. The latest one to show up decided she lived under my truck for a while before she finally let me pet her. Poor thing is declawed, so she must have belonged to someone at some time, but I can't find anyone to claim her. In the meantime, she is staying in my garage "lobby" since we have so many cats inside the house that have their claws.

The garage lobby is a small room inside the door of the garage that I walk through on the way to the room that is my studio. (I have a very large garage.) I'm a slob and a packrat, so the room has a lot of boxes of junk in it, and it is also the place where I often drop off bags with tools or home maintenence supplies when I get back from the hardware store, which is my favorite place to shop.

On Friday, when I was on the way into my studio, I noticed that there was a plastic bag on the floor next to the kitty's food dish. She must have dragged the bag from one of the boxes near the door. I went to pick it up, and found out that it had a dead mouse in it. Not only did she kill the mouse, but she very considerately bagged it, so I wouldn't have to touch it!

What a good cat!

LOL! She's a keeper!

My dog isn't so nice about her "presents". We can't get rid of these mice that live in our attic. Our landlord set out glue traps, which I am totally against, so I routinely go around throwing them away and checking to make sure there aren't any mice in them. If so, they are cleaned as well as I can get them, watered and released. Well, our little terrier (Molly, not Jake) does her job very well (much to my disgust) and if she finds them she does kill them. One day I came out into the kitchen to find mouse guts splattered all over the cabinetry...some spots reaching almost to my roof! It was disgusting to say the least. I think your new little cat should come over and teach my dog the proper way to dispose of rodents.

At least your cat killed it first...

Many years ago, I was living in a friend's house, and had a cat name Harlequin. Harley was an indoor/outdoor cat, and a good hunter. She would go out at 2:00am (she'd wake me to let her out if my Roomie didn't let her out when he came in), and come in for breakfast when I got up for work.

One morning, I let the cat in, as usual. Not as usual, she had nothing to say, not her usual greeting. I thought nothing of it but put down her bowl of food, and went into the bathroom to take my shower.

Shortly thereafter, there was a sound like a riot going on in the dining room: the cat was charging around the house knocking things over and generally acting like a loon.

Suddenly, it was dead quiet. I looked out of the bathroom to see Harley quietly having breakfast -- with a dead mouse laid neatly beside her bowl.

Apparently, she had caught the mouse outside, but wasn't quite done with it when I called her in. I guess she expected it to wait patiently while she ate so they could go back out and play some more.

Eeyew!

Your new kitty is earning it's keep! I like it, does she have a sibling?

Not that I know of, but we are trying to find her a home where she could live inside all the time.

Where do you live? : )
