Tooooooooooo cute! Lol. I don't know how many times I've said I'd never have another puppy, but they sure are adorable. Spike was about 6-10 months when he showed up, and Romeo was full grown. They were soooooooooooo easy to housebreak!
We brought both Smudges and Trinkett home at 6 weeks old. It took Smudges 3 days to become housebroken and Trinkett took a week. Trinkett was a little harder because she is paper and outside house trained.
I could bring it home. How lovely. Shirley

Yes, I know that sounds like I'm talking about a human baby, but I have all the human babies I want. And my more lucid mind knows that I really, really am not well enough to train a puppy. And, there are about a million reasons why a puppy wouldn't work.
But I still want one.

P.S.: I am content with Sophie the Wonder Dog. She's pretty puppy-sized, anyway.
Oh, I miss puppy kisses! The big slobbery ones from my two just aren't the same.

have you considered a companion dog? One that can help you with different things?

That sounds wonderful on the surface, but I know that I would never do justice to a companion dog. Within weeks, we'd both be on the sofa, and all that training would be for nothing. And the things for which I need assistance aren't really things a dog could do - drive me places, keep an eye on me so I don't overdo, make my lunch, stuff like that.
Ideally, we could find a woman who would keep house in exchange for room/board + a small salary. (I could afford no more than $250/week) We have plenty of extra bedrooms, and she would be free to come and go, as long as the house was decent, and the laundry and meals were taken care of. No child care or weekends - we can take care of our own needs during the weekend, and DD doesn't require child care.
The gotchas would be that the person couldn't smoke at all (because of my lungs), would need to be scrupulously honest (I'm not up for hiding things in my own home), and couldn't have overnight guests (because it would be a bedroom, not an accessory apartment, and I don't want strange men sleeping over with my DD around). The ability to speak English wouldn't matter to me
- I speak lots of languages at a "survival" level.
Unfortunately, I cannot find someone to work under those conditions. So, I just putter along.
