Yikes! Hooray for the furnace guy, though, and hooray 10X over for the warranty!!!! I had one on my old (literally) house and it paid for itself several times over....failed circulating pump on the furnace, failed hot water heater (twice in 3 years!!!!!--the 2nd one had a flaw), a fireplace problem and a plumbing problem.

Read over your policy, they usually have a largeish deductible on the furnace itself, but I think it comes out about 50-50.

As far as I can tell, the deductible is $100. Add to that the fact that I had to renew the policy (which I really wanted to but couldn't truly afford to do right now) for $395. So I guess that's not so bad. Except I already paid $100 to FIX this furnace that is going to be replaced. Sheesh.

Geez Louise, Tink!!! Damn straight this could be the cause of ALL your symptoms. I hope hope hoep it is, because furnace replacements are cheap and easy by comparison to the matched sets of hearts and lungs!!! Sarajane

I know that having to pay out that money hurts...but you know, it's way better than the alternative. If it indeed the CO causing your problems, and the furnace causing the CO to leak, i figure a total of $600 isn't really all that bad for the price of your life.

Or, as someone else pointed out, compare that with the cost of a heart/lung transplant. Not so bad then, eh?
