awwwwwwww... and your sculptural beads (love those fishies!) and your Mermaids are SO GORGEOUS, they are to DIE FOR... just holding one of your little woman is theraputic for me.

I think everyone here is really bothered when good beads die... whatever the cause. We know they represent a big investment of love, skill and labor on the part of their creators.

Maybe we should hold a wake for all the beads that didn't make it through the black-out. Not only yours, but all those belonging to glass-workers we know nothing about as well.

For any Art that died an untimely death due to lack of electricity, please observe a moment of silence ...

What if you put a UPS on your computer, and had it control the backup generator?

"If the UPS kicks in, (meaning the wall-current went down) start the generator"... is that something that could be programmed using available components that didn't break the bank? Lots of lab equipment is computer controlled to do things when certain conditions are satisfied...

I meant what if you had the *computer* control the backup generator.

Some day I'll learn to compose a clear sentence...

Really? Where, exactly? I grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods -- and we're going to be up there next week, just for 1 night on our way to Toronto.

Whatcha doin' in Toronto? I spent a year commuting there from Boston, and really learned to love the city. I can't tell you how much time I spent walking all over from my "home base" at the King Eddie.

We're going to Worldcon! It'll be the first one I've been able to attend in 5 years, and I've got a number of online pals in the Toronto area, so I'm really looking forward to it. We're staying at the Strathcona, which is right downtown near the convention center. From the looks of things, it's probably an older hotel -- but that's not a bad thing, some of those older places are still really nice, as I found out in New Orleans a few years back.

Hi Celine: We live close to Selfridge ANG Base (near 21/I94 and Jefferson).

I hope you enjoy your trip to Toronto. We drove through on our way to Moosehead Lake, Maine last summer. It is a great city with many things to do. A few weeks ago there was an all day concert there (Rolling Stones, AC DC, and many other bands). I think there was a half a million people that attended. My sister and law and her family saw the Lion King play in Toronto last year and they said it was very good. D.Jean (ACJewels)
