Semi-OT: Semi-bad news

The gallery I was selling to is closing on May 15th. It sounds like it is not totally bad news to the owner; her husband has a job opportunity elsewhere.

Since I will be moving in the fall and I suspect Bloomington, IN is probably not the worst place to find shops to sell/consign my work at I guess this isn't totally horrible news to me.

Still, it's sad.

Since her shop had a strong "nature" theme and she had certain general ideas about what she wanted plus seasonal themes, it gave a (soft) focus to what I was working on at a given time which was kind of nice. Otherwise I sometimes feel kind of overwhelmed with ideas and never get started on anything.

Oh, well. I will pick up the stuff at her shop before the home show I am doing in May. Since some of my best work was at the gallery that will be nice for the home show.

Oh Marisa....the best bead shop/gallery (oky the only bead shop) in Bloomington closed recently. Gerri has another shop in Indianapolis and since she lives north of there, it was difficult for her to come to Bloomington to make sure things were up to snuff.

I know that there are other galleries, and this really funky store...do you want me to ask Matt what/where they are so you can check them out when you're there?

He's great friends with Gerri from the store whose name escapes me but she adverts in all of the magazines, and she is likely to know of the places where work like yours would fit in.

Nashville is also a great, artsy town, not far from Bloomington where I'm certain there are places for your work. I haven't been to Nashville for a couple of years, but it does have a great wedding chapel, where if we were to get married in Indiana, would be the place I would do it.

Igreene,

If you could give me some pointers of where I could sell my stuff, that would be great!!!

It did look like there was a "whole" in the market in Bloomington as far as bead shops, especially since the town is SO dominated by students. I think a shop with good classes could do really great there. But now would not be the time for me to start on a venture like that :)

Hey, if there's a "hole" in it, doesn't that make it, by definition, a bead?

:( I am sorry to hear that Marisa - hopefully this will turn out to be a blessing in disguise and you will sell these pieces well at shows. :) (((((hugs))))))
