What do you like most when you buy beads and they arrive in the mail?

Is it the excitement of seeing the parcel in the mail?

Is it the anticipation of trying to open the parcel without using your teeth?

Is it seeing something wrapped up like a present inside the parcel?

Or the breathless moment when you unwrap the beads?

Or all of the above...

I know that getting something I've ordered (or won) that's been packed carefully and sent in some sort of special wrapping adds just that little bit extra to the joy of seeing the beads.

I'm not talking a bulk order from Shipwreck or mass amounts of silver or even a bunch of Delica beads... I'm talking about something special from a bead artist. It says that I'm more than just another person buying a bead, I'm someone who appreciates artwork and is being thanked with that last bit of special effort.

I loved Christmas and birthday presents as a kid, and now I've found a substitute as an adult, buying beads! Thanks to **all** the artists who take that extra bit of time to make their beads look even more special and make the people who buy them feel like they've just won the moon.

I wonder if I'm in the minority but I just like seeing the package in the mail box. I especially like it if I've forgotten I bought it.

I'm not a frilly person so the pretty packaging gets in my way and then I feel like I have to save it to use for something else and it all piles up and takes up too much room. But that's my own issue. Hee hee.

Have I said about myself before but: bah humbug. :o)

I do use a colorful bag or box when I ship, so don't think that I scrooge on my customers just because I do on myself!

There are a few things I like the most about this. I love watching my mailman through the window as he tries to figure out how to stuff 2or 3 packages into my tiny mailbox. (I usually buy from 2 or 3 places at once, cause I never know if I'll be able to do it again real soon) I love looking at the cancelled postage because it reminds of how much I've learned--I never buy from someone who charges insanely for shipping, so seeing my actual cost right there on the stamps is a thrill for me. I used to not be careful about that, I got TAKEN! I LOVE my packages from Starlia and Mj--Starlia's are always so mind boggling in the wide range of styles she sends me--there is always something there for every mood I may be in. And any packages from Mj just make my day, because I'm always waiting for them to come so I can start/finish a project I've run out of a certain bead for. I always make the torture last by only slipping out the packing slip first, and reading over what I've gotten this time. I love having Darian on my lap as I open each bubble wrapped portion and hearing him ohh and ahhh over the new pretties. I love letting the new beads hang out on my dining table for a few days to see how inspiration will strike. And then I love tucking them into their new (temporary) homes in my bead drawers. I really love being able to say thank you personally to the people I buy from--since majority of my purchases are made with RCBer's. Oh how the list goes on, lol.

For me it would be all of the above. I just love it when the artist puts their personal touch on it. Kalera wraps hers like individual candies...and that cracks me up, because they really are lickable. The little organza bags are fabulous! I love to recycle those. Little touches go a long way with me.

It's the beads themselves. They knock my socks off. ~~ Sooz
