Logo Positioning on Jacket

I got my first job of positioning a logo on a jacket. Woo-Hoo! Not much, but now I got a question:

How far down from the neckline do I place this thing? The logo is 5" tall and 8" wide for the back (fits my hoop fine!). Am I worse off by placing it too low or high on the back? Centerline shouldn't be a problem.

There is a smaller logo (left front section of jacket) measuring 2"x2" and I cannot figure out the best placement from the neckline and zipper front.

Any ideas from others who have done embroidery on jackets?

Thanks all,

B~

As it is a still a smallish logo for the back, I would try placing it just above the centre of the back of the jacket, sort of centered just below the shoulder blades. The front shoulder logo should look good about 6" down from the shoulder seam. That is a nice measurement so that it is not too high and it also won't end up on the end of the breast if the jacket is worn by a woman . I'd cut out a piece of paper the size of the logo and place it on the jacket back to see how it looks for placement before you go ahead with the actual stitching.

You also might purchase a little gadget called "Embroiderers Buddy" It will give you the exact placement for the type of garment and the size of the piece. Well worth the $10. You also might go and do a google search of Embroidery Placement. The name of the site excapes me at the moment but it gives palcement for everything from towels to clothing in all sizes. I printed it out and bound it for reference. If you can't find it let me know and I will post the site. Nana

Nana, thanks for the search idea. I think I found it:

on back will be 9" down from neckline on the back. It will be and 7"down from the left shoulder seam and 4" from center zip for the front itwill be.

Cheri, I may move it up a bit as you suggest for the front. But since I am assembling the jacket from scratch, maybe lower is better since seam allowances on this pattern are 1/4".

Thanks all for the speedy response. Can't wait to get the thing loaded and running!

Hi B, That is not the site I had in mind, but it is the same information. Good luck on your project. Nana

Thanks for the link on the positioning. I've bookmarked that one for future reference. Good luck with the jackets.
