Needles?

So far I have been using Schmetz embroidery needles, but from a large supply I´m down to my last 5 now. In my local shop they insist that universal needles are just as fine, and I really can´t say I´ve noticed any difference when I´ve tried them a couple of times. What do you guys use? What IS the differense? It looks like (or I might be imagening!) the eye is slightly bigger at the mebroidery needle, I guess to protect the thread because of the enormous amount of stiches, or...??? I live in a small town and probably have the only embroidery machine in town so they don´t stock embroidery dedicated stuff, but I do prefer buying stuff locally when possible. It´s so nice to have a good local fabric shop, hardware store and so on even i such a small town!!

I use Organ needles and they work the best in my Brother also. We went through hell and back using the store recommended Janome needles. Even though made by Organ they pulled out of the machine. My wife ws tightening them with pliers in an attempt to save our machine from the ravages of a loose needle.

It turns out the Janome had a huge bump around the eye (I forget the measurements from the micrometer) and the Organ brand ones had a very small bumo around the eye. When testing the bad needles I could not pull the needle out of a heavily embroidered area by hand without pliers once pushed through in heavy material.

They are cheap and excellent quality.
