Brother Snoopy machine

I have a Brother Snoopy machine, about 7 or 8 years old that went in for repairs and I was told it would cost about $400 to fix and wasn't worth it. I have another, newer machine I use for embroidery, this was my "back up". I brought it home unfixed, but now it is just a very heavy paperweight. Does anyone have an opinion on whether I should bother to fix it anyway. Would I recoup my costs if I sold it? It's too painful to throw it out. Besides ... could I do that to Snoopy and Charlie Brown?

Hang on to it and see if you can get a low cost repair done sometime. I had a similar problem and met a new sewing friend recently and her husband was a good engineer and he fixed all my machines even the washing machine.
