Well, with Gillian so close (actually, she will remain so close for bit), some sort of gathering had to be arranged, which was yesterday. (I'll try and arrange another so we can have more folks.)
Now - this was very last minute and I'm still trying to recuperate from camp prep, camp aftermath, driving in the heat, work and an other family funeral. Basically, we got it off the ground Wednesday night.
So, Gillian and Elizabeth (aka Dr. Brat) drove up to my house for lunch. Elizabeth brought the most wonderful bread and Gillian picked up ice cream and pasta salads. I made curried chicken salad and a blueberry cobbler (frozen berries alas). Also some good salad tidbits.
The rains can crashing down just moments before Gillian arrived and to keep her a bit drier, I brought her in through the garage and up the dark staircase. We had a few minutes to chat before Elizabeth arrived with Harry. Now, Harry's been here and trotted in to say HELLO long before Elizabeth got to the door. He had DD and the dog treats all to himself but was very well mannered about it. She was very proud to take him for a walk by herself. Most dogs would see what they could get away with, but he just trotted along.
Projects came out - Elizabeth had a lovely pink baby blanket and cross stitch that I can not think of the name of. (Maiden's Dance??? ) DD brought out her stash too. Gillian had a piece of three blue birds in a row and one other that I don't recall. I showed off my latest finish - a hybrid scissor fob/case. Oh and my basket that I just finished. (I'll take pictures later).
When the weather stopped being wet for a few minutes, we took a quick garden walk; down the driveway bed, and around to the side. The daylilies were a bit bedraggled from the rain, but if you squint a bit all you see is the riot of color. Just as Elizabeth put Harry in his crate, a coyote trotted down the adjoining driveway and down the street and toward the conservation land that we abut.
So, a good time was had by all
