But might you not seek her advice on how to choose a professional to deal with? Speaking to people around me was a great help in finding a fantastic General Practitioner when I was without one.

Strange coincidence today. My dog had a UTI several weeks ago and it was only with my strong "urging" that the Vet that was substituting for my regular Vet agreed to do a urinalysis. He insisted the dog was fine and I insisted he wasn't. No surprise when it turned out he did have an infection and needed an antibiotic.

When I took him today for a checkup, I related this whole incident to his regular Vet. The know it all guy has left the practice, with some pushing. Dr. Kelly was appalled when I told him the story and remarked that he always listens to the owners of the pet because most often they know their own dog/cat/bird, whatever.

And I know for sure that I always had to explain what was wrong and what I thought might take care of the problem where my kid was concerned. Most doctors didn't have a clue and actually looked to me, and the other parents, for direction.

I like what I see. I see a woman who doesn't take crap from anybody. I see an honest woman who can think for herself, stand up for herself, and won't back down just because a few folks who don't like her want her to.

I see a woman who has dealt with stuff over the course of the last year that would have left some people whining and wailing and constantly bemoaning their fates.

I also see a woman who has flaws, I've never said I was perfect. Others here seem to think they are perfect, and I tend not to tolerate that well, and point out their own imperfections when they get in my face.

Now then Ruby, since you are one of the ones who let your personal dislike of me show CONSTANTLY, what do you see in your mirror, hmmm?

Do your friends agree with ALL your opinions on ALL topics??? Do they think you dislike them if you disagree on one or two topics?? I stay away from mirrors as they lie to me. I look in and see the skinny young woman I was at 35. LOL! and can't imagine who the hell that old woman is in the photographs. LOL! They(mirrors) only show the shell not the nut. Ruby

I have no clue where all this came from. My friends and I disagree on many things, from religion to politics to our favorite types of needlework. I like that about my friends. I do not expect the world to agree with me, anybody who does is asking for constant disappointment in life.

Mirrors don't lie, they show the truth. Whether it be the mirror over my sink which shows me new grey hairs or the mirror I hold up to my soul which shows me myself, flaws and all.

I'm no wilting flower who just ducks her head and says "sorry ma'am" when somebody tells her she's wrong. If I don't think I'm wrong, I say so. You don't like it? Killfile me, just don't expect me to change because that is what you want. I'm about what I want, just like most people.

I'm not taking sides in this argument or saying any of this applies to either Caryn or Ruby, but I would like to make a point.

If you lie to the mirror, it will reflect the lie. If you color your hair, the mirror will show the artificial color not the natural color. If you put on a false face for the world, the mirror will show that instead of what is really inside you. And if you lie to yourself when you look in the mirror, you will still see only what you want to see.

Dianne,

I sure do agree with you. My own Dr. seems to feel the disease I have doesn't exsit in spite of the fact I have been tested by a neurologist and the diagnosis was, "Yes, you certainly do have it." I was examined by my son's pediatric neurologist and she agreed with the previous neurologsit. But, my GP basically goes, "Yeah, yeah, whatever." So, I just ignore him and know that I've watched my Grandmorhter, my Dad, my Uncle, my cousin, my brother, my son, and myself deal with the disease. The Dr. doesn't know a darn thing. I did have to chuckle one time when I had to take my son to a different GP when his Dr. was out of town. The GP filling in asked how we came up with the diagnosis and why did we have our son tested for it. I replied about the history of the disease and that all the signs were there. Sure as heck I was right. Damn, I hate that at times...

take care, Linda

I certainly hope it is nothing serious. I agree. It is so frustrating when doctors won't listen to either you or other professionals in the field of medicine.

I'm sorry you are having health problems Linda. I think that when your doctors won't listen to you, it's me to find a new doctor. I changed dermatologists recently because he told me he was writing a prescription for an antibiotic. When I asked which drug he was giving me, he told me not to worry. He's the doctor and he would take care of me.

It just so happens that I'm allergic to several antibiotics and the one he was prescribing is on my no-no list.

That was my last visit to that arrogant young man who wouldn't give me the benefit of knowing anything about my own health and welfare.
