asking experts

I USED to be a big self-centered, self-serving, pity party of a slug. Then I got over myself. The only reason I say anything here about health issues is strictly to illustrate how I handled something.

This is boring!

It's not Karen's health problems I have a problem with. It's her self pity and self absorbed bad attitude. Her process serves only to continue to create conditions to be let down in life with everyone in her path.

That`s what I said - not the illness - but the whining about how awful the doctors, friends, relatives - Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all treat her that bugs me. Like I said if you can tell me how to get rid of her posts which become incorporated in peoples replies, I`d be eternally grateful. I often wonder if people actually read what you say on here - they only seem to respond to what they THINK you say (or HOPE you`ve said). It happens so often.

Simple answer!

Pat, belt up Caryn, be a big girl, and cool it. Victoria, we are tired of it Karen, don't respond back!

Anything else gang??

What did you have for dinner tonight. OT, but different!!!! We had pork ribs and sauerkraut with a salad and left over veggies.

As do I, when I am physically up to it. However, I believe that cooking, cleaning and working for pay are a higher priority than going out and doing community service while my house goes to hell in a handbasket, or having to eat crap because after volunteering for a couple hours I'm too exhausted to cook.

Perhaps you forget, I take several bags of handmade baby afghans to the battered women's shelter every year.

From talking to friends who went to medical school:

When you start LAW school, they tell you that 1/3 of you will not graduate. A further percentage will never pass the Bar exam.

When you go to medical school, they will bend over backward to make sure that even the most incompetent graduate.

I had some brown rice, a chicken leg poached in soy sauce, sprouts and snow peas. Strange eh ? That was what presented itself. I am forcing myself to cook something or else it leads to feeling hungry later on and having something undesirable.

I am down two sizes now since New Years. I have until October for the school reunion, so should be okay by then lololol

Wow!!!! I didn't see that you had anything to lose when we met a couple of years back!!!!

My cooking problem is flatly NO CARBS for Jim!!! It is a challenge, but we do it, unless we are away like the last few days. He still does his best, but who knows what starch is used for thickening gravies etc!? I am proud of him, his sugars are good, and his weight is down about 30 lbs. Obviously I also benefit, because I don't make starchy things just for me. I try to make EVERYTHING from scratch, then I know what is in it.

Way to go Shena..............we all want pictures of the svelte Sheena!

I think moving to the condo and no grass to mow and no snow to clear and not reducing my intake did it.

30lbs is a good start, I tried the no carbs route but it wasn't for me, love my veggies and fruit too much. I'm doing WWs Core Plan and it works. Plus I eat out a lot with friends and it is pretty adaptable for that. I confess I miss my wine, I use my weekly points on that but figure one day I shall be able to have it again. In the interim, the fact that I could just stop drinking it proves I am not an alcoholic I suppose lol

Cooking from scratch is good because I have been more careful to read labels on things now and discovered the most surprising quantities of sugars etc where you least expect them. All Bran ??

I'll send you some when I am ready to take off for the reunion!

After reading your healthy and home cooked meals, I'm almost embarrassed to say I went out for a late lunch and had a half of a meatball parmesan sandwich, extra sauce and a shared antipasto with oil and vinegar.

Now for a snack I had a handful of peanuts and there are some Fig Newtons calling to me, so I'll probably have a couple of them.

Sorry,

Lucille

Now that's my kind of dinner. And the whole wheat roll makes it health food, right? lol

Haven't decided yet, as I haven't seen the menu. Three friends and I are going out to honor our mothers (mine's out of town; the other two mothers are deceased).

Maybe! I'm still belching. Tomato sauce and I don¹t get on as well as we once did.

Had a GREAT breakfast. Omelet with asparagus, mushrooms and cheese, really good, spicy homefries and raisin toast.
