Canada Day - what are you doing?

Jun 30, 2009 22 Replies

Happy Dominion Day tomorrow to all my fellow Canadians.

I'll be spending part of the day at Belleville in the park with a display and demo of needlework from our local Guild. We are taking shifts, but since I have the Guild banner, I have to be there early.

Just keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is better than today, but rain is forecast.

And a Happy Dominion Day to you as well ! Think this is probably the last year I can make my Happy Dominion Day tshirt get an airing lol

Happy Dominion Day to all my good friends over the northern border. I feel a kinship, being originally from UK!! A foot in each camp you might say.

Have a wonderful day

Hugs

Gillian

It's set to be a real NS day - starting off with rain/fog, clearing by lunchtime and then brilliantly sunny and hot, just as it was today, according to the forecast. If that goes to plan, the fireworks should be good at night. I hear a few anticipatory ones already lol

Not working! SInce I have already sung the feminist version of O Canada in church, and protested the singing of The Maple Leaf Forever in the same church......what's left???? Actually, I have thought at least as far as morning, and think I will make pancakes with Saskatoon berries and look out the maple syrup. And I think it most appropriate to raise a glass to Sir John A. in the evening; he would be deeply appreciative.

Hey Sheena, is your tshirt the one with John A. Macdonald and the moose eating maple leaves???

The least amount I can get away with at least until someone around here screams that the lawn needs cutting. This DOMINION DAY we will see temps in the 80s and about that many skeeters per square foot.

Can we assume that the characters "mini" are suitably placed on the front of the tshirt or have you gone politically correct on us and had Happy DOminiOn Day printed on the back? LOL

The very one - I was moved to purchase mine from the Globe and Mail one year when Michael Volpe wrote a long article on "Give us back our Dominion Day" - it was somewhere around 1993/4 so it is tired now.

Have you seen the google sign today ? It has a rather strange looking Mountie in the google !

Must just be displayed in Canada...just looked and ours doesn't have it.

Ooooo, yum! Mine are *just* starting to ripen. Everything is about 2 weeks late here. I can easily keep track of them because I have some in a pot right out my front window, waiting for the berries to ripen and eat...*then* I'll plant it back with my other two.

Joan

You have skeeters? They've been oddly absent here, especially considering the amount of rain we've had. Not that I'm complaining, mind you....

Joan

Sorry I assumed it would be because google have said they carry it according to country - we will have to see when July 4 comes up.

Thanks - this is the quietest ever as I am off tomorrow to Fredericton, NB for a major bridge tournament.

Granddaughter and two great-granddaughters arriving shortly and I am taking them to lunch at DQ. I know the kids prefer McDogs but I have limits lol

No, but you're tempting fate !

I guess that's because those that didn't want to go North to Fred's area came South to Port St Lucie.

Great! You have limits AND standards, nothing would ever persuade me to eat one of those disgusting lumps of dead cow - 100 percent beef, including hooves, horns, eyes etc. And no, I'm not a vegetarian!

Sounds very celebratory - and hope it's been a great day!

Why do you people keep making me hungry?

What a picture this makes. Anyhow - Happy Dominion Day - however you celebrate!
