Comestibles and Conversation with Karen

I'm back from Cally-for-nye-A, and finally got my head out from the suitcase and the washing machine.

Karen and I met up at a small, local, "mittel-european" type restaurant, with excellent food in a tiny place, only about five or six tables. We ate lunch, then, to free up the table, went across the street to a coffee shop for more time, and ended up talking for three hours!!!!! Karen is a fascinating person with a very interesting background and lots of stories to tell. I'm hoping she will come here next year, either for French Quarter Fest or Jazzfest.

I had a wonderful time, and now I know what a cross-stitch angel looks like in the flesh, as it were. Previously, I had only seen photographs. I do not know how people have the patience to do all those tiny, tiny cross stitches according to very precise color change charts. I couldn't. Give me the freedom of surface embroidery every time.

Next time I go out to see the grandbabies, I shall be sure to block out even more time with Karen (and maybe I'll get to meet Miss Kitty.

I'm hoping to be well enough to travel that far, too, because I've always wanted to see New Orleans.

I'm jealous! I've been kinda near Karen a couple of times but things just haven't worked out. Someday.......

Sounds like a wonderful time. It's so nice to meet people that you "know" so you can *really* know them! :)

And you have a standing invitation to come paint my house, since you love doing that so much! :)
