WooHoo! I did pretty well!

"Chill" got a 2nd place (I was actually a bit disappointed with this, but didn't see what got 1st for a comparison), "Summer flower box" (the SAL piece) got a 2nd Crocheted bag got a 1st and Reserve champion Crocheted small doily got a 1st

I also entered a few flowers from my garden: Peony bouquet got a 2nd Pinks got a 1st Pansies got a 1st

I'm glad I wasn't competing against my coworker in the ccs large picture category, who got a first, Champion of the embroidery division

*and* Grand Champion of the needlework division with her "Christmas Elegance" by Mirabilia! I knew she would. :) I was also really, really happy for her, because this design kept her going through some very tough times with her Hodgkins treatments. She made it for another coworker's wedding gift.

Yay, Joan! Well done! I know how beautifully you work and your successes are well-deserved. I haven't seen pinks in years and years - must see if I can find some for me herbaceous borders.

You can get seeds for them at Select Seeds - they specialize in heirloom varieties. I started several varieties from seed the last couple of years, and have had a fair amount of success.

More than pretty well. And in a state where lots of people have lots of long cold nights to sit and stitch, outstanding.

Yes, I'm sure I can get seeds (and will have a look for them, now you mention it). It's just that no one seems to grow them in our area lately. Another one I haven't seen in ages is marigolds. And zinnias. And asters. Hmmmm... Fran, I think I can feel a retro-fest coming on! ;-D

All *very* common flowers in our area! In fact, my mom had *tons* of aster seeds from her flowers! Too bad I can't send you some (or are seeds allowable?). She'd love to get rid of them.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words! It's always nice to be recognized, even in the smallest of ways.

Now, I'll be waiting to hear what all of *you* receive at your fairs!

Thanks for sharing, Joan. I love all the color variations of the SAL. And Chill is adorable - very expressive. Great frame on the fish.

OK, OK. Clearly Gill has pointed out to you that I need prompting. So, In about 10 minutes, I will go back downstairs, and then go further downstairs, and get all the papers, and then make my way back up the stairs - stopping for lunch in the middle, and finally send all of you bills.

Got the hint - tee hee.

Nope, didn't discuss it with Gill, but as usual great minds think alike. Have a great and stimulating lunch.

OK, ladies... I wonder how long we can hold our our breath! LOL. I told Ellice if I didn't get a number, I would just make a guestimate and send it.

WE leave next Monday for three months, and am trying to get loose ends caught up.

To add to the chaos, Jim got an ice cream bar out of the freezer yesterday, and it slid right off the stick onto the floor. We discovered finally that it seemed as if the compressor was running the freezer, and trying to cool the frig side as well, with disastrous results. So I emptied the freezer side into my nice clean chest freezer, put gallon jugs of ice into the frig side, and this afternoon dropped a grand at Sears with the PROMISE of delivery tomorrow! The only good thing is that Jim decided he would leave the new machine running while we were gone, so I don't have to throw away my frozen homemade chicken broth, or some of my frozen herbs and peppers. For the New England gang, we have a reservation at Newfound Lake, NH, from Aug 10 until Sept 10. I made it, and paid in full, yesterday, before the 9% tax comes into play tomorrow.
