County Fair results

I entered 3 pieces in our county fair last week and I just have to brag, so please bear with me! :) I entered a knitted reversible baby blanket and got 2nd place, a towel with violets on it that I made for a benefit auction (I had to borrow it back from the person who "won" it) and took a first with that, and the third piece is a switchplate cover with pansies and butterflies and got a first with that *and* a reserve champion!!!

DD (who is now old enough to compete against me) got a 2nd place (after my 1st!) with a kit she stitched and gave to me last Christmas. It was the only piece she finished this past year.

You can see pics of all except the blanket (haven't gotten a pic of that, yet) on my webshots album (

I thought about entering ours, but can't find the form! The deadline is next week - a neighbor is entering knitting - maybe she knows where it is. . .

Well, just look at all those ribbons! I'll bet you could just sing to the stars! Congratulations are in order. Wish this was a 3-D world so I could give you a hug.

I don't know about where you live, but they have the rule books at the different fabric and craft stores around town. Maybe you could check there? Also, at our fair we fill out the form when we submit our entries, they're not available beforehand.

Thanks, Dianne! Yeah, cyber hugs just aren't as good as the real thing, are they?

Well, Joan, you have inspired me!! For the first time, I'm going to enter something in our county fair. I'm going to enter "Great Blue Heron" by Crossed Wing.

Thanks for the push !!

First in "Scenes, over 15" for St Petersburg. Second in whatever sampler category I entered "Why Is It?" in, and Second for "Tchaikovsky's Nutcrackers" (my adaptation of a CS&CC nutcracker design) in "Christmas." Still trying to decide if I'm entering any of them in the LA County Fair, or just sticking with the Orange County Fair.

If you want to enter St. Pete in the State Fair, and they want it hand-delivered/hand-retrieved, I can take care of that for you. The fairgrounds is a straight shot on the #67 bus for me, so not a long/difficult trip.

Of course, if you want to come up and see it on display yourself, my guest room is yours. Just give me enough advance warning to get the stash off the bed! (Yes, you may fondle my stash if you can't sleep.)

Darla, we went to the Delaware State Fair yesterday. The needlework was pretty unimpressive. A couple of MLI angels, TW Footprints and several pieces that I recognized as kits. But we took Will to the little petting zoo to feed the goats and they had a blue and gold Macaw named Darla! Very attractive bird, too. :-)

I just got back from the Montpelier Needlearts Show in Laurel, Maryland (or near Laurel, MD). A local shop, Stitching Pretty, organizes it and the pieces are displayed at Montpelier Mansion for 2 weeks. Several members of my stitching group had pieces exhibited and won ribbons of various levels. I didn't have anything this year but definitely will next year!

Hi Sue - I'm one of the Metrostitchers, the NYC group that had a bunch of entries. Yes, check with Stitching Pretty about an entry form etc. The entry fees are quite reasonable I think. I just have to get some things framed - they do have to be framed or finished in some way to get into the show!

*Great* job, Darla! Bet you were happy dancing all over the place! :) One question....what design is "Why Is It?" Don't think I've ever seen that one.

Coasting in on Joan's post as I did not receive the original, congrats Darla! Well done.
