What is the difference between DMC blanc and DMC blanc neige?
Blanc neige (B5200) is a slightly brighter white than the blanc (white). (From the French 'blanc neige' is snow white, 'blanc' is white.)

Thank you Jenn. Can you really see a difference when they are side by side? Wow ! Got to be a small shade difference !!!
Actually you can see a difference. The "snow white" has a hint of blue to it, the 'white' is more a milk white.

I seem to have come into this discussion a little late. There is a third DMC colour which is a very slight off-white, DMC 3865, also called "winter white". I am virtually certain I have the right number, but I am writing from memory. The reason I mention this, is that I find both the white and B5200 to be very "thin" when it comes to coverage. They seem to have much less coverage when compared to other colours. Winter white gives, IMHO, much better coverage. I know it is not as white as the other two, but, these days, I use in in preference to white or B5200. Probably it would be a good idea to try it out before using it on any piece that matters. Just a thought.

Thanks all; I did go see these in person yesterday as had to buy some Waterlilies thread at our lovely little Haus Tirol over here. What a delight having that ishop n town. I digress. You are absolutely right although she would barely let me see them because she is a big proponent of Anchor and hardly will sell you the DMC . I just told her I wanted to "see" them and seemed to get her off on the Anchor speel ! barbie
And I hit the "post" button too fast. The choice of kits is why you end up making your own design. There are less and less all the time IMHO.
