You are threatening me now? Lovely. I never rushed anyone. And hey, if this is a threat meaning you will keep her, feel free, just send me back my scroll rods and the original chart so I can stitch her someday. I don't care at this point if I sound nice or nasty. Aside from you guys who stitched on the angel, I have no reason to ever come here again. You all did a beautiful job and for that I am very thankful.
Buying stock in Sirius is not giving money to Stern. How often do you actually listen to his show? Bristol Myers is a flat stock. I got rid of my shares a few years ago and bought Pfizer, but that too has it's problems.
Speaking as an observer of this thread... I got the impression several months ago Victoria, that you weren't too concerned about the angel at all. You backed out on your stitching commitment, and left others to fill in for you. As well, some people on RCTN offered financial backing and were turned down. Heck, from what I've seen posted I don't see why anyone would feel a commitment to mail the angel back to you. Send the scroll bars back, sure, but the angel doesn't belong to any one person.
I do offer congratulations to those who have worked on it...you've done a fabulous job!
What? First of all, there were ample people who wanted to stitch on her who were turned away because it was almost done. So your assertion is inaccurate.
How do you know who gave financial help to the project? And where in any post anywhere was anyone who offered financial backing turned down?
No - but hiring Stern and any of his ilk or supporting the decision to hire him is the moral equivalent of condoning of sexual harassment and violence against women.
I'm not threatening. I'm just warning you to watch how widely you swing that stick of yours.
This is patently, blatently untrue, Victoria. You've been trying to push people on this project since May. This is not the first time I've counselled you to be patient. The last time I did so, Caryn jumped all over me for talking to you about a project which was none of my business, remember?
Why ever would I keep her? And why do you keep making that accusation? First you accused Meredith of wanting to keep her and now you're accusing me. What makes you think I want anything but my own work around? How can you live a good life if you're so suspicious of people all the time? I feel sorry for you, it must be terrible to be so sure that those around you are motivated by such a level of greed that they'd keep a charitable group project rather than send it to its intended destination.
You've never cared about that.
Again, be careful of how wide you swing your bat when you're talking about how awful this group is. Some of us don't buy your asides and exceptions.
I just think you're behaving very poorly about this angel at this point, Victoria. You said that there was no date by which it had to be done, but now here you are saying you want it done *and**framed* in the next six weeks. I'm assuming that Meredith has finished the stitching but we don't even know if that's true. Perhaps she's just given up and is sending it to me undone. We have no way of knowing until the Angel arrives here.
And when you start to complain about her getting long in the tooth, don't forget where she was from November until February, Victoria. You can't blame all of the delays on other people.
I worked on a bit of the gown and gold braid on the left side of the angel. Didn't do as much as I would have liked, but I did railroad both parts of the stitches and tried to do the best job I could. The whole thing is really is thing of beauty and I am very proud that I was able to do even a small little piece of it. Somehow working 60 hours a week and keeping two houses in two different states up and running (as well as my three computers) doesn't leave to much time to stitch, but I do try to get in some little time every day because it is so relaxing.
Elizabeth, she's all yours. Do whatever you want with it. All I ask if for the original chart be sent back to me along with the scroll rods which were a gift from someone, regardless how much they cost. They were never intended to be given away, but on loan for the project.
I would have given it to FDNY Headquarters, but I really don't care where it goes.
Really, I'm finished. Discussion over. I say this with no anger, no angst, nothing. I don't care any more.
I also offered to donate money since I knew I couldn't stitch on the project (or guarantee its safety!) with a small child in the house. The refusal of the donation was very polite and said money wasn't needed *at that time* but might be when the project reached the framing stage. I wish I could quote the original post but my saved posts dating before
09/04 are gone due to the frying of my old hard drive. In any case, I did not believe my offer was snubbed since it was left open to help with framing.
It has been interesting reading about this Firehouse Angel, and the animosity this sort of project can generate. Does anyone know (or care) where the AFARR is? I know Trish Brown doesn't care if she ever sees it, but we, as rctners, did promise to finish it for her.

She's not yours to give, Victoria. But that's been the problem for you all along, hasn't it? You can't just give up control and trust that she will get to where she belongs.
Nice way to get yourself out of the framing as you did out of the stitching, though, eh?
I'll frame her. I framed professionally for Michael's for 2 years and can get a decent deal on supplies and do it myself. I'm pretty sure I can manage to get her to wherever she needs to go.
