Firehouse Angel

Just hang loose. Since you post regularly, you'll periodically see progress reports and you can jump in when the time's right. :-) Otherwise, we'll forget your offer - which was mighty generous. :-) I could write it down, or print it out, but I'd lose it. We have a bit to go, me thinks. Wings, halo, hands, beading. Not sure what else. That's what was left when Meredith got her, and I'm unsure how much work she did. I thought she was working on the wings.

I'm not letting this recent spate of posts deter me from the original intent of this project. Gotta keep my focus. :-]

I certainly apologize! No need to jump down my throat though George - I have read many of your posts - and I certainly wish my husband would try needlework. He does appreciate it, and make a point of looking at my progress every day - so I'm thankful for that!

I'm sorry I missed your name when reading the web pages.

Sorry to bring your name into the fray Dianne. I just figured that since you've been maintaining the website you would most likely be the one who would know what was happening with the angel. Guess I was wrong...

Actually, Elizabeth and Tia Mary are more tuned in than I, at this juncture. Elizabeth has contacted Meredith, who currently has our lovely Angel. Meredith will send it on to Elizabeth. Not sure what is left to do, yet, besides beading, which Elizabeth will accomplish.

When our Angel is finished (there's still a list of those who wish to stitch on her), we'll have a round table discussion about who's framing, who's donating, attaching the envelope with our: first name, last initial, State, Country, etc., getting a plaque placed on the frame. (I think that was the last discussion and what we decided to do). Or maybe it was: copy the web pages and stick that in an envelope.

I get foggy about the details, but this is pretty close. :-)

Bullshit. I was going to pay to have it framed. I am still going to do that if I get it back, which I highly doubt.

Then how can you say she's all mine? What kind of game are you playing here?

I generally enjoy this newsgroup but sometimes the nature of some people saddens me. Whatever happened to this statement on July 25 at 10:17am?? "If this is agreeable, please email me at snipped-for-privacy@animaux.net as I will not get into this here under any circumstances. I am not in the mood to fight with the usual nastiness, including my own."

Everyone wants the angel done I'm sure - if not just for the reason it might end your harrassment and whining all the time about it. Everyone is working as fast as they can, even tho' they were all told to take their time ... in 'your' game - the rules have been changing a lot. Am I ever glad I didn't get involved in this!!! Now why don't you go away - it was so peaceful here without your foolishness.

The AFARR is with Lollee. The folks who packed her for moving put the chart in a different box from the fabric. She has found the fabric, but not the chart. When I heard from her last, she was ordering a new chart so that she could complete her letter.

That's totally unfair Vic - you are twisting and contorting everything. I have just crossed the country meeting many of these posters and they are all nice people.

I always considered the Angel project ill-advised myself. The doing of it and the giving of it. I can't imagine the fireman/woman who is going to cherish all this work.

I am not being nasty, I have said before when people complain that they give a needlework gift and it is unappreciated, be sure of whom you give your work to, or not mind if it is set aside. Fireman/woman, needlework - somewhat of an oxymoron me thinks.

Thank you Vic, I go in the same category. Are you being ageist?

I think my own head - at the time this was conceived - was it was the process (healing, contributing) more than the end product. If I remember, others felt the same way. It was our way of expressing grief

- and what happened to it later wasn't important. :-) Dianne

Although I have not been involved in the Firehouse Angel Project, I have read all the posts and enjoyed them until recently. I think it's time that we all remember the reason behind the project-remembering and honoring those lost on 9/11. I think the recent postings have spoiled the true meaning behind the entire project. I really think it is a beautiful idea and that it will be appreciated by all-those who stitched and those who receive it. It was not being done to receive a TY-it was done as a tribute.
