My dad sounds in good spirits. Kurt has managed the trip to the bathroom once now and hopefully getting up gets to be routine instead of imagined torture.

I'd like to piggy-back on the request for good thoughts/prayers. We found out last week that DFIL has a large (grapefruit-size) tumor (large b-cell lymphoma for those who may know what that is) on the bottom of his spine, which, of course, has affected his ability to walk. They have been treating him with steroids and now radiation for

He is currently in "transitional care" where he has his own apt. but there are medical people there and they take him back and forth to the hospital for treatments and appts. The rest of his test results are supposed to be back today so we're going down to St. Paul for the weekend.

Hugs and good thoughts your way, Joan. Sounds like things are going well, hope they continue that way.

For Cheryl - well, hmmm, maybe put a small cooler type thing in his room for him.

Last big leg surgery for me (only 8 weeks total non-weight bearing at all) DH would leave me esconced on the sectional in the family room. With the remote control, a selection of chilled drinks, some small snack, and stitching. And meds, of course. And ice packs. And crutches to get to the bathroom (I wasn't moving too much, big, bulky, cast). When he could, he'd come home and check at lunch. And called regularly.

DS should be getting more mobile - it's temperament, and making him do whatever kind of physcial movement that the medicos told him to do (boys are resistant).

Plus, he should be weaning off the strong pain meds and down to normal, prescription strength non-narcotics soon. Just important with the pain meds to keep them relatively constant. Not let him get into the really hurting place before getting the next dose - all kinds of reasons for this that I won't bore you with. But, pain meds work best for this kind of thing if you can maintain a somewhat steady level.

So, Joan and Cheryl, hope all is getting better, and try to stay in good cheer. ellice

He's moving around and generally doing pretty well. Just need to get him up the stairs and showered. Wish the Advils would do the job for 100% but not quite yet.

I will surely hold you, Cheryl, and Joan, and your families in my prayers. While we know our bodies are fragile, somehow we are never quite ready when those medical issues come up. Fortunately, we are living in a world with increasingly wonderful medical technology. We can pray that God guides the hands of the surgeons involved and that you all have peace. Deb
