How about another stitch-a-long everyone?

While I'd love to try another new type of stitching, until life settles down again (or I hit my stride again), I can concentrate on cross stitching and a book, but learning something new will have to wait a bit.

SO - I want ideas. I'd like to use a free chart from somewhere we can all access it. Or maybe a theme idea like a bookmark, the ever popular ornament, fall theme, monogram or Celtic knot.

.Did you ever finish the first one? Don't remember seeing your pics. . . (rdh!)

That said - maybe. I just realized it's August 24 and I haven't started my sister's Christmas present (needlepoint Santa cat riding a dog). It would *have* to be quick and easy!

I can never have enough bookmarks so that would work. I rarely do anything with a fall theme so that would be new for me (without learning new stitching, had enough of that with DM's pillow top). Or a freebie. Time to do some surfing to find what's new.

I never started really - never got happy about any of my colorways after the stitching started. Maybe when school starts this week (OMG) I'll pull out the almond one and just don it

That would work for me too... Cheryl

I'm always thinking I want to do bookmarks to give for gifts, but never seem to get around to doing them.

How do you finish the back to make it smooth and pretty?

This one comes with a band of satin ribbon to attach behind.

I average a large load every other day until hockey season really kicks in for both of them and then I can have a daily load if I mix hockey in with sheets or the like. I dry the sheets with a softener sheet after I dry the hockey gear.

What I found works great and makes it a little stiffer is to find some grosgrain ribbon and use stitchwitch in to iron it on...sometimes I do multiple stripes of ribbon..

Hmmm - I have that great ladybug book mark Dr Brat gave me, I have the right size book mark and I found some great ladybug ribbon the other day...

I guess using ribbon sounds like the easiest and most efficient way to accomplish a neat back without much trouble. Now to find the time and effort to actuallymake a few would be nice.

I loved my colorway when they were all lined up next to each other, but I didn't like it once I started stitching with them. It did stitch up fast, however, so even though I wasn't enjoying it as much as I had hoped, I was able to plod along and get it done in a couple days.

I'd definitely be up for another stitchalong.

I found a (new to me) site called Happy Threads that has some fun freebies, including flower bookmarks. Several of them are canvaswork or cross stitch. Personally, I like this one a lot:

Sorry to respond to my own post, but further perusal of Happy Threads also reveals a Scottie dog. . .
