Intersting goldwork course

I've just spent two days (Thursday and Friday) on a goldwork course and really enjoyed it. We were given a Jacobean style design of three flowers which we arranged on our choice of fabric (I had a cream silk) and chose to do the flowers as seperate pieces which I may just use as a 'sampler' to remind me of stitches or may make into something later . Of the other ladies , two chose a rich burgundy backing and the rest ranged through white ./ ivory to a bamboo colour .Some chose to link the motifs as a single 'vine' and some as myself chose random so all where individual. Our knowledge withinthe group ranged from beginner (myself and another lady) to city and guilds but the teacher adapted well to all our needs . We didn't finish the pieces but have plenty to work on and further classes if we want later in the year . As soon as I manage to charge my camera batteries , I will pop a photo on my webshots and post a link for anyone interested . I hope to go on the further courses - work permitting. I am so jealous! Goldwork is one those techniques I'd be afraid to start on my own and I've never seen a class locally. (doesn't mean they don't exist)

I'm looking forward to the pictures and enjoy your project.

What she said! Sounds great. Seems the last 2 times I've signed up for some wonderful goldwork course, life has interfered and it didn't happen. Definitely a shortcoming in my needlework education.
