ISO: Harley Davidson pattern

I am puzzled. You want a pattern of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. And any make (or model) will do?

Yes. Harley actually puts out several different lines.

Yup, there's the Fat Boy, the Sportster, my personal favorite the Road King (ah but I do miss riding that monster with my late husband...sigh...), Electra-Glide... there's quite a few "Hawgs" out there :) I just wish I was tall enough/big enough to actually hold one up myself long enough to "drive" it LOL Meli

What Bruce was pointing out that your request for 'any make' would mean motorcycles other than Harleys. Only Harley-Davidson makes Harleys.

I have seen freebies of Harleys, although the quality was pretty poor.

I do know that there are several good non-free patterns for things like (IIRC) a Brough-Superior and a Triumph.

Yes they are all model designations of the various models that Harley makes. Kind of like what Triumph and BSA and other Brit bike builders did back in the day. Triumph T120 Bonneville, T100 Tiger, Scrambler, and Thruxton models, were all variations on the venerable 650cc twin cylinder bike that was produced for many years. BSA did the same thing with their own naming scheme. The only reason I mentioned those two makes, is that you have a UK address, and might be able to remember those models I mentioned. The Fat Boy, Road King, and Electra-glide have a common engine size and the sportster has a smaller engine option. Hope this helps.

That wasn't Bruce's point - the original poster asked for "any make" - i.e. non-Harleys - not just any Harley model.

I was responding to his stated "puzzlement" "a not infrequent occurrence nowadays" statement about the need for clarification as to the names of the particular Harley models and their meanings. I tried, to relate that inquiry to something that he might be mindful of as it pertains to the similar naming methods of the former British motorcycle makers and their similarity to Harley's. Such as various names for virtually the same motorcycle that is made with various different purposes of intended use with minor modifications to certain specifications. I hope this helps you understand my reply.

I think you're still missing the point a bit. The OP asked for a pattern of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. By definition, those will all be the same "make" because they will all be made by the same maker, i.e., Harley Davidson. Therefore, the follow on statement "any make or model will do" was a bit puzzling because while any model would do, any make would not, as any other make would be something other than a Harley Davidson. Bruce wasn't puzzled about the different types of Harleys. He was puzzled at the notion that the OP was looking for Harleys and then saying any make would do. One or the other can be true, but not both.

The "make" question notwithstanding, I rode a 1976 Triumph (sorry, don't know which MODEL) once and damn near killed myself. Shift on the right. Back brake on the left. Can't remember where the clutch was (I think it was on the right, also), as it's been too long.

That is one of the reasons they went out of business. They couldn't conform to the changing standards of the industry. As to my clarification of model, I guess if you say you are confused as to the difference of names then you shouldn't be surprised at the possibility of a clarifying, and hopefully helpful response to that stated confusion. There is probably no further need for wastefull bandwidth usage in this regard.

I'm not confused. I just offered an amusing anecdote about a motorcycle you mentioned.

I've been reading Bruce since he came to this group and I HIGHLY suspect he wasn't confused, either.
