I always wonder whether there are any Native Americans on here? With all their wonderful crafts, surely SOME of them do cross stitch? Has anyone done a design for a Kokopelli, or am I going to have to do one myself?

Don't forget Christmas crackers can also be the little foil wrapped packages, twisted on each end, to be pulled at Christmas dinner. You (and/or someone else) pull them and they "crack" when you do and tiny prizes fall out. You can see info here:

I am no expert, but when you run a store, you either make a profit or go out of business. With all the costs which are associated with being in a large city, it can be tough for shops that sell needlework supplies to make a go of it. I understand that there are no needlework shops in New York city; you have to go into the surrounding area before you can find one.

I'm sure... but Houston is riddled with specialty shops of all kinds. What is, IMO, really doing in both pen and needlework shops are the large discount stores such as Office Depot, Staples, Office Max (pens) and Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Crafts Etc. (needlework.) the cost alone of running the store can't be the only problem when I can find golfing stores, remote control toy stores (hmm.. some RC addicts may object to me calling those "toys"), Scrapbooking stores are everywhere now- though i do think they are not holding up as well as they were either.

but but.. there are like 4 major Pen stores in the NYC area. at least one of the specializing in vintage.. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh... this comes back to the length of time the city has been established as well as probably fewer discount stationery stores than one finds in the South.

well, it's the hand pain that originally pushed me into FP use. Though yes, typing still remains easier most days. I write a lot of long letters to friends and people really prefer the hand-written sort. so... FPs it is!

uhm... they aren't? Coulda fooled me. Parker recently came out with the new Parker 100. I hear it's an excellent pen. They may have moved manufacturing sites over the years, but they've never been out of business. Nor is Sheaffer out of business though they have closed one of their main plants and moved their ink production to Slovenia.

because I enjoy a discussion with someone however, doesn't make them "buddy", just so you know. Nor does one disagreement make them "enemy".

if I counted all the people I know and completely trust in this world and would call "friend" - well, it would be less than 10. I don't have any illusions about people on the internet. Been burned too many times now by people who stroked and praised one minute, then backbit the next.
