lighting recommendations for stitching

I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a light to stitch with that could be mounted to my Grip-It Legend floorstand? I know the Ott light seems popular, but I'm not familiar with how it would work on a stand. Would I need any additional attachments for the floorstand? Any advice would be helpful!

Thanks, Barbara HJ

Julie has given you a great suggestion about the clip light so I just wanted to add a little info. I'm not sure which age group you fit into but as we age, we need more light from **different** directions If you are having trouble seeing, consider more than one light source. I have THREE! I read somewhere that up until about mid-30's, a single light source is adequate. In our 40's, there should be two different light sources from different areas and in your 50's (that's MOI) you need three. By the time we reach our 60's and 70's, we're gonna need football stadium ighting -- LOL! But seriously, once you get a clip light you like, if it's not enough, try adding another light of some sort on your other side. I have a table lamp on my left, one of those funky floor lamps with the 3 movable lights behind me on my right and my Ott floor lamp up close and personal on my right. I can see REAL good now :-)! Thanks Tia Mary and Julie,

I just hit the big 3-0; I'm usually OK with one light, especially if I can shine it right close to the fabric, although I have a halogen behind my chair that I also stitch with which is better at getting rid of some of the shadows from the other lights in the room (the whole "different directions" thing). I like to stitch while watching movies with DH, though, which means he likes the main lights in the room off, but a clip light would be sufficient to light my little corner. Off to the store to look at lights.....thanks for the help!

Hi:

Let me add something here......from personal experience. Make sure your light sources are different types of lighting. Use your ott lite, use your soft white light and possibly just a regular bulb glarier type for back lighting. This lack of different types of lighting, heavy computer use and stitching--is what caused my eye problems. We're talking 10 to 15 hours a day between the computer and stitching. Every day.

It's taken 8 years, 4 doctors and 2 eye surgeries to get my vision back to normal. Had I know than what I know now..............well water under the bridge. But according to the Doctors--it's the spectrum as well as the brightness that your eyes need. Limit one or the other and this is when problems develop.

Won't it be nice when we can use daylight! That won't hurt your eyes I bet !
