This was such an intriguing post when I first came across it. Linens can be so vastly different from one another, in spite of the thread count. I have two types of 40-count - one suitable for Schwalm or other drawn thread, the other more suitable to counted work (I wove a Lithuanian pattern on it). So many choices, and these fabrics go in and out of "fashion", which is why its helpful to know what the eventual use is when asking for a fabric.
