Max's Moon over one?

Question

Has anyone stitched Max's Moon( over one?  He's mynext project, and I just realized last night that there are no partialstitches.  He has to be stitched on black or dark blue, and while Ilove to stitch on colors, and I love to stitch over one, I'm wonderinghow much of a PITA it is to do  those long stitches that create the little hairs sticking up -if I stitch over one, I'm using just 1 strand of floss for the xs, soI wonder if 1 floss strand for the long stitches will be too heavy.  Imay play around with sewing thread for those to see how it looks.I can't wait to start him - he's been in my stash for a long time now.Jacqueline in PAcurrently working feverishly on RW's Floral Bell Pull

Awwwwww, that's cute and I don't even like cats.  As for the long stitches, I have two suggestions:  1) Use a less-contrasting color (more grey?) so it won't stand out so much and look as heavy, or 2) Untwist the two plies that make up a single strand of floss and stitch with just one of them.  If you use the second method, you'll want to dampen it after dividing but before stitching to smooth out the kink (since just a little twist will show when doing long stitches) and treat it gently as it will be more delicate than a full strand.         wrote:

I've stitched it and used Aida because it is easier to stitch on asfar as black goes.  However, I don't know about one ply of a strand offloss.  I would think you could easily use a heavy gauge upholsterythread in white for the fur.  I love mine and he is hanging in mylivingroom and I am looking at him as I type this.  Everyone who comesover loves it.
