Message Board Question

Hello I've only just started browsing this group and wonder if any of you ever meet up via international shows as do some members of R.C.T.Q. (quilting oriented)? It's also a very helpful and friendly group.

I was given a tapisserie kit whilst in hospital recently although it's never been on my list to try. Ignorance was bliss so I just had a go. This was with quite thick wool & I don't think I could tackle counted cross stitch. The good thing is that it's portable whereas machine quilting and applique is not something you can easily transport to small spaces unless you are a hand quilter and piecer.

Well....good luck with your projects

**JJ** - UK who has met kind quilters from USA & Europe who came here for shows & vice versa when I was a better traveller than now.

How timely!! DS sent me a package this week ( mostly this tax papers for Mom to do), but also three cross-stitch charts he bought in South Korea, and a kit. I am pretty sure the kit is for a temari ball, however the instructions are all in Japanese!! There are pictures, but I am darned if I can make much sense of them. One of these rainy days I will have to take all the fibres out of the packet, and muddle through it. The ball is gold, with it sectioned off, like an orange.

Have a look in your library for a temari book. The dividing off is strategic but after that, they are great fun.

This reminds me that newcomers may not know about the @ badge; a form of recognition for rctners at shows. @ is the sign of the internet. If it is embroidered it must be rctn. There used to be many different patterns for @ badges. I am sure they are still around somewhere. HTH.

My "@" badge that I made for the Heart of Cross Stitch Show at Cherry Hill 1999 hangs on my bedroom wall. I remember yours Jim, got a photograph somewhere with you wearing it when we met at that show. Shirley
