Last night, after showing a friend and his daughter (one of DD's BFF's), my garden in the rain and digging her her own daylily and a quick supper, I drove over to a stitching friend's house for a "Partylite candle party". Still raining and now with lots and lots of wind. (this is important)
Give Ann her daylilies (had to bring a house warming gift) and get the house tour. Chatted with her son, DS and he were in Cub Scouts at the same time. Got the laugh of the night - I had DD's picture out since Ann hasn't seen her in a few years. Jeff, all of 19, remembers DD as a newborn to toddler. "Wow, I feel OLD, she's almost grown up now!" His Mom and I laughed until the tears ran down our faces.
Sampled the munchies (Partylite now has a food branch) and met the other guests who are later than I was - it's now raining harder.
We settle in for the spiel about the company and how it is a great part-time job and the income it generates. The first "game" starts and
Flicker go the lights - the electric ones that is... Once - back on Twice - they struggle to turn on again Three, four maybe even five times - off, flicker on again and off
And stay off.
Now the only light is the candles placed all over the living room. After a quick phone call to her condo association, power is out through out the complex, no idea way, PSNH has been called. Son Jeff returns - a huge branch snapped in the wind and took down a pole and the wires heading north out her area. Road is closed. Thank goodness, I head south anyway.
Well - finished the party - got a fig scented candle for having a fig lipstick in my purse, along with the iced tea scented one for winning one of the games.
I'll place a small order - after all there is a ladybug votive holder...
Got to fold some laundry and get the groceries bought. I'm down to no chicken in the freezer and 3 rolls of TP.
That is after I empty the dishwasher and put the contents of the silverware drawer in for a wash. It's filthy.
-I did manage to stitch a little yesterday. DS and I are in the habit, that if we're home watching either Bizarre Foods or The F Word together.
Later folks - off to the laundry.
