OT : a Holiday Whine :-)

Well, my back has gotten considerably better the last few weeks to the point where I am finally noticing just what a total pig sty my house is! I've started decorating for Christmas already because I know I will be working VERY slowly and I have a LOT of stuff to get displayed. What the DD, DSonIL & the SMDGD coming for the holiday, we want to have everything set out. The whine is because I now have to clean everything before I can start putting out the decorations. Stuff that has been tossed in the corner and forgotten for several months now has to be put away which means things have to be rearranged, etc. This means I have twice as much work -- first "cleaning" and then decorating! My back is much, much better but I can't go at all of this with a vengence or my back WON'T be better for much longer. VBS!!! Right after Halloween AND getting a root canal (and all that entails), I managed to get the dining room cleaned and spent the first two weeks of Nov. setting up the Village. Today I managed to get the formal Living Room rearranged and dusted and put up the lighted garland that goes over the windows, in the entry archway and around the front door and got the Nativity set up. I DID have help from my friend Juliet -- payback for the three weeks in late July/early Sept. I spent helping her get ready for her garden wedding. I'm now at the point where I have to clean, etc. the Family Room, Guest Bedroom, Sewing Room and Upstairs Landing all at the same time so that I can start decorating just one of those places -- LOLOL! The way the decorations were boxed up last time I decorated has stuff from the different rooms mingled together. It's really going to be a zoo around here for the next month! I have to have all of the decorating finished by 09 Dec. because i will be having my Needlework Group here for the annual Christmas potluck. That's a LOT of cleaning & decorating to be done in the next three weeks when you have a not too depenmdable skeletal structure! We won't talk about the sewing and needlework I have to keep up with, either. Monday I finally "got into Santa's pants"!!!!!! I have a friend who is a really, trully awesome Santa and he needed new fur on the bottom of his pant legs so that's what I did Monday. I also need to get a new white shirt made for him. We won't talk about the new dress that Mrs. Santa needs! As I say -- OY THE PAIN -- LOLOL. Normally all of this wouldn't be too big a problem. I **used to have*** the ability to do all this stuff without thinking. Even with the arthritis, I can still manage to get a lot of work done quickly. but with this whole back issue this year, I'm going to be walking a tightrop trying to get everything done and not making my back worse. DH does help when he's home but it's just a lot of stuff that I mostly have to do. Now, if I could just find a few extra days in the week, I'd be doing good -- LOLOL OK -- whine over. I just needed to vent a bit. Especially since I am having one of my "owie" nights and can't sleep. Took the heavy duty meds but by the time they start to work, it'll be time to wake up :-))).
