LOL! My friend just emailed me that he is wearing his orange shirt today just to annoy people (he's of Scottish descent).

I wore a nice bright red top with hippy type embroidery and a Kiss Me I'm Not Irish sticker stuck on top of a Swedish flag button to my former parish's St. Patrick's party on Saturday. A friend of East Indian descent had a Trust Me, I'm Irish button that worked well for him.

But we did have a Kilkenney and a few Guinnesses, just to be in the spirit of the occasion.

Here in Canada we celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday on May 21, believe it or not, I don't recall it even getting a mention in the UK lol

I did! It was on Oz SBS (international) TV late one night. Excellent! Wonderful! Angel Corella's got legs and leaps to die for! Of course, it's not that often we get to see anything remotely ballet on Oz TV, so it was a real treat. ;-D

I don't think we celebrated Victoria's birthday but I do remember celebrating Empire Day (24 May) at school in the late 1940s. It got changed to Commonwealth Day sometime in the 1950s.

I'm wearing purple today and when someone commented on it, I pointed out that I'm of Irish descent no matter what color I'm wearing so it's kind of silly to make a big deal out of it to celebrate some Roman's death day.
