Thank you one and all.

Mostly I need to thank Sheena for taking 6 years off my age. Don't tell Gillian that I told because she's close to my age, but for real I'm 71. That's sounds old, doesn't it??

Only as old as you feel or think or something like that.... I was thinking - wow - you're awfully young to be joining in all that "we're old farts" chat ;^)

And, I know that down there in FLA you're definitely at most in early middle age...

Ellice - who confesses that DH and she are definitely still kids most of the time

Just tell people you are approaching 39 but don't tell them from which side you are approaching it...

Which is what everyone tells me that I can't do, so I didn't sing in public...

I saw Jane Fonda on Letterman last night and she said she is 70. I can only *hope* I look half as good as she when I'm 70! Maybe 70 is becoming the new 50? :) And there's no *way* that Gill looks like she's in her 70s!!!

Jane does look great. OTOH, I do believe that along with some great genes, she's had a little "help" in the last couple of years.

I definitely think 70 is at the least the new 55, and 50 is definitely the new 40. Of course, the other side of this, my friends with the 20 ish kids

- well we all think 22 -23 is the new 16, because the kids coming out of college - regardless of how intellectually capable seem to be life capable about like a 16 year old.

Seriously, we were talking about this at some get together recently, and our friends - all in their 40s to early 50s were comparing with our parents generation. Our folks were much freer than their parents - but at 50 seemed much older in their way of life, activities than we are. OTOH, at least mine got quite active in their late 50s - but comparatively in our 40s we're more like them in their early 30s. I think it's some of the way manners, customs, have evolved - as well as the difference maybe in some of the work we do. OTOH, my folks had help in the house at least 2 days a week when we were in school, and did about the same type of household maintenance - though they had a gardener come. We definitely can't afford that help - but do play a bit more sports, etc. Ah, who knows.

I just know that I think that is cod's wallop. Most of my friends are in their fifties and that's before I begin on the men who are considerably younger than that. I have a great deal of fun, am slightly more active than is probably good for me and never stop.

I believe I fit in your parents generation since my kids are heading towards fifty and I believe you should not generalise, that's a bad thing !!!

One is as young as one feels, sometimes the bod does not co-operate but I don't have such a jaundiced view of my fellow sisters.

Personally, I think a huge crunch is coming when young people, now in their late 30s realize that it is TRUE ! You can't turn back the hands of time, you are going to age, plastic surgery cannot keep you looking like a teen forever (though who the hell wants to beats me) - if I was going to criticise todays younger women, my criticism would be "Why are you all on these mind altering drugs???" Yesterday I was hearing that there are now similar drugs for them to give to their cats and dogs - the world is going to hell in Prozac basket !

OK rant over, everyone upset with me, ask me how much I care lololol
