And I love Scotch.

I guess all this shows that nothing in this world is black and white. There are many grays, and many interpretaions of actions.

All I can say is that I thank God that I am not a politician, but "merely" one of the great unwashed! LOL

Ya gotta remember, kiddo, that I am old enough to be your Mom, and as the years go by, the whole thing seems more and more of a farce.!!

I was going to waffle on, but decided I am tired, DH will be home from hospital tomorrow, I have a lot to do in the house....so I will go and give McCain my blessing tomorrow, and keep on with life. I liked Huckabee, until the Christian Right thing came up, and I strongly believe that religion should have no place in electing a President. Good moral values, yes, but that is all. To my mind abortion should not be a political issue; that is up to a woman's conscience, not the Government. Anyway IIRC Roe v Wade was on government funding, not the whole morality issue.

Waffling again; time to sit back, read the paper and relax with the dogs!

Griswold VS Connecticut was about govt. funding. I don't think Roe V Wade was. The outcome of Roe v Wade was based on the idea that the state had no interest in a fetus as a citizen and so therefore could not/would not prevent a woman from terminating her pregnancy in order to protect the fetus.

There's a lot of negative opinion about the senior senator from MA inside his home state, too, but that doesn't keep him out of office any more than the negative opinions outside keep him from being powerful. I think Kennedy's endorcement will go a long way within the DNC.

Besides, you know the apocalypse is coming when the Irish-Americans back the African-Americans.

I don't know if you recall this but the abortion issue came to a head in Canada with Dr Morgentaler. He did them, opened clinics and challenged the law of the land and thankfully won. Last night there was an in depth interview with him and I found it quite interesting.

He was Polish, spent time in a couple of camps and came to Canada after the war. He made this curious statement " I was the elder of two sons and perceived that my mother did not love me as she was so tied up in my younger brother, so it became imperative in my later life that women loved me"

Do other people find that a strange statement ? I have to say, for all demonstrating for him was the last demonstration I did, I didn't like him personally but did like what he stood for.

Now that is my biggest guffaw of the evening !

I can laugh because we have Nova Scotian politicians who are no better and maybe probably worse than the senior senator from MA.

Not until I was a grownup. As a kid in Brooklyn it was plain old plaid. :-)

Now what has Brooklyn got to do with tartan ???? Huh, huh ? It's like my old aunt said when I asked her to order a kilt for me mutter, mutter " They had to special order it because they cater to the American market and imagine this, they order by colour not by name!" the Mackenzie tartan being of a more dark colour, not bright reds and yellows. She was scandalized.

Those are only the tip of the iceberg in some books.

I'm sure of it. People have talked trash about Teddy for decades and it hasn't made one bit of difference to his legislative effectiveness. I hope his influence is not waning, personally, because I like his politics, but the man is getting older, no doubt about that. And then we'll be stuck breaking in a new one.
