Don`t keep on, old darlin`, it could go on round in circles for WEEKS! ;-P
Just think, if we were all sitting in the same room having coffee and bikkies (or cookies) it would all have been over in five minutes. Each would have known everyone else`s opinions, whether they liked them or not, laughed at our differences, and maybe one would have gone off in a sulk. It all gets so SERIOUS when converted to the written word and some small minded prat always googles it in about ten years time and hits you over the head with it!

What's a "bikkie." Or is that a Britishism for cookie? It sounds like something an infant would say.
G
Gill Murray
You are right, Lucille. It applies to a biscuit, which over here we call a cookie, and is "baby-talk". Mommies would alway offer a "bikkie" to the kids if they had been good, or as a bribe if they wanted them to be good.

So I said sockpuppet. It's a frikkin' WORD. Why would I want to 'unsay' something? The criteria for the simplest definition of 'sockpuppet' was met.
I agree that there may perhaps be a problem with the group. But then again, we're all different people from different places. There's bound to be a certain level of clashing. That's the nature of the medium and there's nothing much to be done for it.
My mother and I yell at each other sometimes, but we still love each other. I get into arguments with my husband, but we're still married. RCTN goes nuclear sometimes, but it all settles down after a time.
Then that's fine. I never said Victoria was a bother. I've never even talked directly to Vic.
------------------------------------
If you're still hanging about and reading all this hooey, Vic, I'd like to say hello and ask how hot it is down in Texas. My stepfather's from Midland and I'm wondering how bad he's sweating right about now!
If you're having trouble with somebody online, could I be of any assistance?
------------------------------------
Caryn, have I ever "brought her up over and over"? No, I haven't. How could I have? I haven't been here!
I swear, somebody should write up a FAQ for this group outlining the 'Who Doesn't Like Who' so newer people like myself don't wander into the middle of a shootout.
Duly noted.
And neither is chastising me. So how about we knock this off and I ask you how your ankle is doing. You should see the bruise on my husband's bicep from his battle with the stairs.
He'll probably tell his workmates he fought a bear... Becky

It's so interesting that you, an atheist, has pure view! Either way, it's the same songs being sung.

Do you see the parenthesis next to the infant word?
L
Lucille
I certainly did? Did you see the answer from Gill stating that it's actually baby talk for biscuit, which isn't exactly the same thing as a cookie?

Well, it's been almost 90F every day, and hot enough at night to still use a window fan. Mark refuses to put the air conditioner back on in November. "...but honey, it's 90 degees outside, what's the diff if it's November or not?" Feh.
I had trouble with a cyberstalker because I disagreed with something on another newsgroup. This person tracked my home address and unpublished phone number and posted it online to every newsgroup. I notified the local police who do nothing but cyberspace and this person has not bothered me much since. However, I still always change my handle.
I post to another group which Cheryl posts to, and I used the same Jangchub name and if anyone thinks I'm that dumb, feel free. I wasn't hiding. I did happen to stop by to see if after 2 years the angel was progressing, and she is not. Then I saw the mantra I have seen here for years and years.
Looking back, I shouldn't have said anything. A person who is sick is not at fault. I'm pretty sick again myself, but you don't see me goinig on and on and on about how everyone screws me for every occasion possible. What a sad life that would be.

ROFL, this is so true.
I actually got to be home both Sunday and today, the asst mgr of another local store is covering for us, and we are working at getting another employee soon. I'd have had to work today, but youngest is off from school (teacher work day) and everyone agreed it would be better if I was home than having her at work with me. No way am I leaving a 9 yr old on her own from 8:30-2:45 when her sisters get home from H.S.
My cold has settled into my chest, breathing is not easy today. Glad the most strenuous thing I have to do today is 4 or 5 loads of laundry! I think I'll bribe wee one to help with the folding!

JUST what an infant would say. Quite apt for here at times! ;-)) (No more childish sounding than a "cookie" you have to admit!)

So, true, I'll behave now! lol
Ankle is all better, was a minor sprain. Did the stairs leap up and trip your dh? That's the sort of thing that happens here. The door jambs leap out and bash into hands and arms and toes, the stairs just move so we twist ankles, tree roots reach up out of the ground to grab our ankles and cause us to trip.

True.
I first read "bikkie" as "binkie" which some folks call baby's pacifiers. It would have been equally appropriate in context! LOL

That must be something like my dog, who most always trips up the steps. He can go down neatly, but almost never gets up without hurting his knees.
I've said the same thing to him. Did the stairs grow taller just to upset your applecart?

I think you`re so wise going to work, though, I bet the migraines aren`t half the bother. Mine nearly stopped when I went back to work - it`s a bit of an adventure, isn`t it? The exercise probably helps, too. My colds ALWAYS settle on my chest - and I get a cough that lasts through into May. (Despite my doctor telling me that it`s my job NOT to cough because of my dicky ticker!) Trouble is the sugar-free cough medicines are no good at all, for some reason.
You couldn`t leave a 9 year-old at home alone over here, even if you wanted to - it`s illegal under the age of 14.
I remember we nipped down to the corner shop, desperate to get milk before they closed, and left the six-year old playing with her toys. We were literally gone for three minutes (It was almost as close as going to the next-door neighbour).
We came back to horrendous screams! Now Jane had one of those plastic kits of eyes/ears/noses etc., with which you made faces with potatoes. Poor kid had put them away in a rarely opened toy drawerand for some reason she`d decided to open it - and there were these MONSTERS! The potatoes had sprouted enormously. She STILL hates opening a potato sack and finding that they`ve sprouted - you know exactly what`s happened by the shriek! This is a girl who now thinks nothing of gralloching, skinning and butchering a deer!

Apologies to you, then. I tend to be quick off the mark in tracking down sockpuppet posters and other nuisances. I admin and moderate a few places online and it's always a snap decision. Sometimes I forget that I'm 'offduty' and people with multiple handles have fair reasons for it.
Local PDs are generally useless, as a rule, for anything happening online. Totally worthless.
We're having rain, rain, and more rain over here. It's getting cold overnight and the daytime is a little chilly. I wonder how my soon-to-be stepfather is going to handle the abrupt transition from 90°F Texas sweltering to 40°F Norwegian autumn. My husband and I nearly melted when we visited my family in WV this past June.
It's funny....my husband keeps having to remind me that it's not my fault my gallbladder's making a fuss. I keep apologizing all over myself for not making the usual dinners we like or being as active as I was before. Being sick is never fun, no matter what it is that's making you ill.
Speaking of dinner...I ought to get started on that... Becky

With us it always used to be the pond that moved and swallowed the dogs! All organised by those dratted frogs - or so THEY obviously thought. The funniest thing was the time a bright green dog crawled out - covered in duck weed. It took ages to get rid of it (the weed, not the dog!). That was before we paved the lawn, and we think she saw the green and thought it was a continuation of the grass.

I don't dispute at all what happened to you, Karen. I was talking in more general terms, I guess, about a view of human nature. As Mirjam said, one can begin from a worldview that says people in general are good and honest, and still be proven wrong in specific instances. The difference is probably the "proven" part. Clearly some people proved to you they weren't worthy of your trust, although you were willing to give it before they provided that proof. Dawne

Leave it to Puff to pick an appropriate time to get himself locked in my clothes closet. He's barking his fool head off so I better go and let him out. This happens at least once every day. ' How do you convince a dog that it's stupid to follow me in every time I go there to get something?
