OT Northern California Weather

Well, it's just as warm in winter here as it is there, but our deciduous trees are bare. That's how I know it's winter. Our grass is green, but the trees have no foliage.

He'll be just fine thanks, he also has a two-story house (and a set of in-laws in Elk Grove). I did remind him to get his car to high ground - or an upper level in a parking garage - if he thinks it is going to flood any further.

What's wrong with DBF that he can't eat munchies????? That sounds serious!!!!

BossLady shared the one thing that should not be shared ... the germs for a very bad cold. I talked to him very briefly this afternoon, and he was coughing up everything north of his toenails. Much better if he stays home in bed instead of giving me his Ick.

TWC report on AOL says tomorrow will be raining in Pasadena, heavy at times with t'storms in the afternoon -- up to 2" predicted. Temp should be 62 and flooding is possible. Does NOT sound good for the Rose Parade!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

He now has enough symptoms to think it's pneumonia (which he's had repeatedly before). :(

And to make things even more interesting ... we have a Wind Advisory till midnight. One of the gusts just dumped a large chunk of the neighbor's tree in my yard and on my roof.

Thankfully, it's just part of the tree. After she had a bunch of the roots chopped off (they were buckling the sidewalk), I was expecting to find the whole tree in my living room one of these days.

One of these days, when the rain stops, I'll get my handyman up there to see how bad the damage is. I may need to borrow some blue tarp from you folks in the hurricane zone.

That does NOT sound good. I had had two or three bouts of it, then when we were evacuated, it came on really severely, and I spent nine days in hospital in a strange city. Now my docs tell me to expect to take a full twelve months before I am really recovered. Please get him medical help immediately.

Uh uh. Those tarps are only temporary, because there are not enough roofers to do the work, and they can only be installed on certain types of roof - not including slate. You need to get your handyman up there right quick, the minute the rain stops, and you also need to take pix, as your neighbor's insurance will be liable for the repairs, but you will need lots of proof.

*Sigh* I can yell at him, but if he refuses to go on his own, there's not much I can do about it.

Welllllll, not till tomorrow. He lives a couple blocks from our chiropractor's office, and the chiro is a big guy (nowhere near as big as Brian, but bigger than me). I will try asking the chiro to go knock on his door and give him a direct order to go to Urgent Care. Maybe a man can accomplish what I haven't been able to.

Sounds about right. When we evacuated after the levees broke (and it wasn't the hurricane which did in N.O., it was the levee failure) I was just coming out of a nasty bout of bronchitis, but, worried about dh's pacemaker after the hospitals started evacuating, I pulled an all-nighter, finishing packing, giving most of our food to the kids over the back fence - packing just bread, water and chocolate - then driving us out of there. Took my meds with me, and kept on using them until they ran out. As instructed in the local paper, I went to the local emergency room to get prescriptions renewed. The doc on duty said something on the order of "Sure, but let me just run a stethoscope over you first." Then, they took blood tests (I think) and an x-ray, he called in another doctor, then said "We have a nice room for you on the fourth floor", and ..................................

........................................

........................................

I was so out of it I didn't even argue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please tell your guy from me that it is much easier to go to the doc now, get the antibiotics, and take them at home, than it is to spend nine days in the hospital, in a complete fog for the first week. They told me afterwards that they weren't sure they could save me. I knew I had to live because dh would be lost without me - but I didn't bargain for yet another twenty pounds that the meds put on me!! Waaaaaaah

He's stubborn. He won't listen to us women nagging. That's why I'm thinking seriously of sending the chiro over; at least the doc is big enough to literally slap some sense into him. And he's a man.

Unless someone's got a DH and DS or DSIL large enough to bodily carry him to Urgent Care. *sigh* MEN!!!

Jim, you will be pleased to know that the parade is going on as scheduled, just a little wet.
