Hmmmn - I think that is what I said, if they are above a certain category, come into land and do damage, the name is retired. No damage, they are recycled.

Sorry Vic--I didn't mean to imply that you were, not at all. I agree entirely with youthat it would be good to talk without namecalling, people running people off etc. And hey, you are that important--we all are. Dawne

In public, at least. From all accounts when just being "family at home" she`s just like anyone else. (As far as she can be, I suppose). Even in public, you do occasionally see her apparently giving a slightly naughty looking aside and even a good hearty laugh, but such moments are rare.

I love the moment on the balcony after the birthday celebrations this year and flypast when the Duke apparently farted. Everyone (except the Queen) jumped, stepped back and most of them obviously found it difficult to maintain a straight face. Some didn`t (Prince Harry in particular). Even the Duke grinned.

I think we are saying the same thing - but from different ends.

Just remembered another one - probably not used over there anyway, but quite common here, and not regarded as swearing anyway. It`s a good old Cockney expletive "Strewth!!!" which is derived from "God`s Truth".

Loss was not a term I would have applied to the silly woman. She loved fashion and clothes, and herself, but never actually achieved anything in her life.

Did I miss something? What about her charitable work? (Disclaimer: I'm too young to remember/care and not a monarchist.)

She didn't actually do huge amounts of charity work. She would go round a hospital holding hands with AIDS victims and she took an interest in land mines which injure and maim so many in tin pot countries which buy the oh so cheap land mines from the oh so rich first world countries. She was pictured looking at a land mine, neatly togged out in a vest that cost much more than the price of defusing many land mines.

She was probably the first of the celebrity "Look what I do" craze. She never missed the chance of a photo op !

True. And the grocer in Knightsbridge (father of her alleged fiance-to-be) seems to be as mad as a box of frogs, his allegation that the Duke of Edinburgh master-minded a scheme with the British Security Services to assasinate the princess didn't help his application for British citizenship.

I suspected as much. I remember that my mother bought me a Diana paper doll when I was a kid, but ceased to care when I got a little older and decided that I didn't approve of the concept of royalty.

Thanks for the clarification!

Yes, why anybody gave that any credence I can't understand, I quite thought after he was interviewed leaving the enquiry people would see him for what he was, but no, still a conspiracy theory.

That people think the Duke wanted to off Diana (I am sure mentally she made them think of it having had a DIL who could do that to me) is ridiculous. I am not a monarchist, more inclined to Scottish Nationalism, but I don't think such a plot is even remotely likely.

That's like Sarah Palin saying that Obama authored two memoirs but doesn't have his name on any significant legislation. You're both wrong and it reflects poorly on you.
